The Cua Viet Combat Base was a crucial U.S. Marine, Navy, and Army logistics and support facility located at the mouth of the Cua Viet River in Quang Tri Province. Operating primarily as a vital port for landing craft, it enabled the efficient transport of heavy military supplies and equipment directly to allied forces near the Demilitarized Zone. Because of its strategic coastal location, the base was a frequent target of heavy enemy artillery fire and played a prominent role in major engagements throughout the Vietnam War until its capture in 1975.
