The Nearest Airport to Cham Islands Vietnam
The nearest airport to Cham Islands in Hoi An Vietnam is the Da Nang International Airport (DAD). This airport is the largest one in central Vietnam region (so it’s gateway to central Vietnam by air) and the third busiest airport in Vietnam. Visitor can take a flight from many countries such as Thailand (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket,…), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia (Siem Reap), China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, India,… In Vietnam, flights to Da Nang board from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Can Tho, Phu Quoc, Hai Phong, Nha Trang,… All domestic flights to Da Nang is less than 1.5 hour.
The DAD airport has 2 terminals: Terminal 1 for domestic flight and Terminal 2 for international flight. From both of these terminals, the distance to Cua Dai port is approx 30km. The fastest way to get there after landing is taking a taxi or private car. The drive will be 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic and weather of the day.
From Cua Dai port, the speed boat ride to Cham Islands is 15-20 minutes. In total, travel time from DAD airport to Cham Island is 1-1,5 hours.
Cham Islands is very close to Hoi An, for that reason, visitors can go to Hoi An first and then go to Cham Islands on the following day. This plan is what we suggest you if your flight arrives at Da Nang in afternoon or evening.
In the region, there are two other airports: Phu Bai International Airport (HUI) in Hue city and Chu Lai Airport (VCL) in southern Da Nang. The distance from HUI airport to Cua Dai Port is approx 110 km, and it’s 75 km if go from VCL airport.

How to Get to Cham Islands with Flight
The boats to Cham Island depart from 8:00, 9:00 and 13:30 daily (the weather must be good). If go to the islands after flying, we suggest taking the boat at 1:30 pm because it’s perfect to hotel check in after the arrival (around 2 pm). It also means that it’s needed to land the DAD airport around 12:30 when fly from a city in Vietnam. On the other side, the timing is totally safe when the flight might be delayed (especially if go with low-cost carriers).
From Hanoi, visitors can book an early morning flight from Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet,… Flight duration is 1,5 hour, so the airplane should take off in HAN airport by 11:00. Because this airport is 30km from Hanoi center, there is a drive required for 45-60 minutes. Rush hours in the morning in Hanoi are from 7 to 9 am.

From Ho Chi Minh, visitors can book an early morning flight from Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet,… Flight duration is 1,5 hour, so the airplane should take off in SGN airport by 11:00. Because this airport is 30km from Hanoi center, there is a transfer required for 30-60 minutes. Rush hours in the morning in Hanoi are from 7 to 9 am.
Ho Chi Minh city center → SGN airport → DAD airport → Cua Dai port → Cham Island
From Phu Quoc, it’s possible to take a flight from Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Sun PhuQuoc Airways,…However, when spend a few days on this island with beaches and underwater activities, visitors won’t find many differences on Cham Island.
