How to Get to Hon Tai Island in Hoi An Vietnam
Hon Tai Island is situated in the southern part of the Cham Islands archipelago, approximately 15 kilometers off the coast of Hoi An in central Vietnam. It is positioned near the main island of Hon Lao, serving as one of the eight islets that make up this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
To get to Hon Tai Island, visitors can take boat from Cua Dai Port or from Hon Lao (the main island of Cham Islands). From Cua Dai Port, the only option is hiring a speed boat that reaches the island directly. Contact us by WhatsApp number +84968009827 if you need. Unless, it’s still needed to reach Hon Lao Island first and then take a boat from there.
There are a few local companies providing a tour by boat directly from Cua Dai Port to Hon Tai Island (and nearby beaches). Almost all speed boat tours won’t stop here for snorkeling/diving and stop at Hon Dai Island instead.
To go from Cua Dai Port to Hon Lao Island, take a boat (speed boat or ferry boat or local wooden fishing boat) for 20-30 minutes. After that, visitors are dropped off at Bai Lang Pier (or the Cham Island Harbour). From this place, it’s possible to find a private boat to Hon Tai Island (no speed boat available). If look for shorter boat ride (or maybe cheaper boat ride), go to Bai Huong Village (approximately 4km south of Bai Lang Village) by motorbike. You can rent a bike and then ride yourself, OR pay a local rider (just ask the homestay or restaurant). At Bai Huong Village, hire the boat from local fisherman to see Hon Tai Island.
The best way to reach Hon Tai Island (and go snorkeling/diving there) is still joining an organized tour. The operator has full equipment for a safe underwater experience. Tours often include one beach and lunch with seafood under the coconut trees.
