Best Time to Visit Ghenh Bang Reef
The best time to visit the Ghenh Bang Reef in the year is the dry season, from February to the end of August. In this period, the weather is beautiful, with lots of sun and no rain. For that reason, it’s a perfect time to sightsee, sunbathe, go swimming, take pictures, and play water sports.
The worst time of the year to visit Ghenh Bang Reef is the rainy season, from September to January. The weather in these months is mostly rainy and cloudy, so it’s not really great to head over to the beach. Between October and December/January, typhoons may hit the area, causing very strong winds and waves as well as heavy rains and floods.

What to Expect Ghenh Bang Reef in Da Nang?
Ghenh Bang Reef is a hidden gem on the South coast of Son Tra Peninsula (also known as Monkey Mountain), Da Nang Vietnam. This place is named after the country almond trees which grow around it. The scientific name of the tree is Terminalia catappa.
To get to Ghenh Bang Reef, visitors need to go along a trail down from the coastal road Hoang Sa (read how to get to Ghenh Bang Reed for further details). After arriving, the natural scenery here is unspoiled and breath-taking. First highlight is the spectacular rocky cliff on the right hand side which has sheer sides, sharp stone formations and unique vegetations. The beach itself is mixed between sad and stones, making it different from other beaches on the same coast. In the shallow water nearby, it’s possible to see small fishes, snails, or sea plants, attracting those who love going fishing in the dry season. If want to go swimming, it’s safe to do here. During the weekend, there are some groups of young locals coming to go camping or picnic.
In the front, visitors can see Cham Islands, a UNESCO world biosphere reserve and a famous marine park in Vietnam. If looking for underwater adventures (snorkeling, diving, trekking,…), this place is the best diving spot in the area to go.

– During the dry season, from February to the end of August, visitors should bring sun cream, sun glasses, swimsuit, bottles of water or may be towel, books. If forget or don’t have, there is no shop at Ghenh Bang Reef to buy.

How to Get to Ghenh Bang Reef in Da Nang
Ghenh Bang Reef is located in Son Tra Peninsula, Tho Quang ward, Son Tra district, Da Nang city, Vietnam.
Before visiting Ghenh Bang Reef, we suggest seeing the giant Lady Buddha, Linh Ung Pagoda or Dong Dinh Museum because these places are on the same road Hoang Sa.
From Da Nang city downtown or My Khe Beach, the distance to Ghenh Bang Reef is around 15 kilometers. Visitors can take a taxi, private car, or ride the motorbike to get there. If going by car, the drive is around 30 minutes. We recommend booking a roundtrip transfer, to have a return drive because of no taxis near the reef. If going by motorbike, find the quickest way to the crossroad of Le Duc Tho Street and Hoang Sa Street, and then turn right. Go along Hoang Sa Road until seeing a cafe near the entrance of Intercontinental Resort (Google maps location: 16°06’49.0″N 108°18’35.3″E). Parking lot here is 5,000-10,000 VND. From this cafe, follow the trail down to the bottom of the cliff to see Ghenh Bang Reef.
From Hoi An, the distance to Ghenh Bang Reef is around 40 kilometers. Visitors can take a taxi, private car, or ride the motorbike to get there. If going by car, the drive is around 30 minutes.
