Hoi An Night Market on Map
Where is Hoi An Night Market?
The Hoi An Night Market lies on Nguyen Hoang Street, on An Hoi Island that is on the other side of the river from the Hoi An Old Town heritage area. It’s 300 meters long, stretching from Nguyen Phuc Chu Street in the north to Thu Bon River in the south.
Best Time to Visit Hoi An Night Market
The best time to visit Hoi An Night Market in the year is the dry season (from February to September). During this period, there is no rain, typhoon or flood, so visitors absolutely have a good experience of trying street foods or going shopping. Sure, it’s better than the wet season when the rain occurs everyday and the street where the market is located, may be inundated by flooding water from the rivers. If the rain is heavy, sellers may not open their stalls and food options may be less diverse. While the area is flooded, the market will be closed, for safety reasons.
On the other side, the best time to visit Hoi An Night Market in the day is when it’s just opened. This market is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hoi An at night, therefore it’s nearly always busy. During the weekends or high tourist seasons, it’s crowded here. Coming here before 7 pm is a good way to avoid the crowds and start exploring.
Crowds often stay near the entrance of Hoi An Night Market because it’s possible to find everything here (souvenir shops, lantern shops for taking photos, street food stalls, restaurants, live music, boat station to embark lantern boat rides, bars, etc). If want to not see too many people, just avoid this part of the market.
If visit Hoi An Night Market in high tourists seasons (such as Christmas, New Year) or simply a busy day, we advise going to the stretch of Nguyen Hoang Street from the crossroad of Nguyen Phuc Tan Street to the boat station (Thu Bon River).

Visitors can consider buying them to bring home as souvenirs or to eat. Local sellers are happy to give buyers some samples, and don’t forget to check the date of validity (if have!).

What to Buy in Hoi An Night Market?
If looking for souvenirs for yourself, family members or friends, the Hoi An Night Market is one of the best places to go shopping in Hoi An. Compared to the Ancient Town, things to buy here are kind of similar but the price may be a bit cheaper (because sellers here don’t pay for high-cost rental).
Right at the entrance of the Hoi An Night Market, visitors can see some lantern shops. All have lots of lanterns to choose from, with a variety of size, shape, color, material, and function. Traditional lanterns at Hoi An are foldable, so don’t worry about how to pack it safely or extra fee for oversized baggage when travel by airplane. The lantern is definitely a perfect gift and reminder about the trip to Hoi An. The traditional color is red because local people believe that it brings good fortune and happiness. The price mainly depends on the size, starting from 50,000 VND. See history and meaning of the lanterns in https://hoiandaytrip.com/hoi-an-lantern.
In the Hoi An Night Market, it’s also easy to see other local handicrafts, besides lanterns. There are clay and ceramic items coming from Thanh Ha Village, or wooden sculptures/statues coming from Kim Bong Village, or marble sculptures and accessories from Non Nuoc Village. These locally-sourced products have some differences from the ones in the rest of the country, and are great to remind about Hoi An too. The price is hard to say because it depends on the values of each object.
Many visitors like buying fruit-patterned shirts and pants, and other ready-to-wear clothes at the Hoi An Night Market. They are not expensive, and really fun to get on and stroll around the town/beaches with family members or friends. The price is about 150,000-200,000 VND for a set of shirts and paint.
Shops of Ao dai – Vietnamese long dresses are here as well. Female travelers can think about buying one to wear and take beautiful photos in the next days of the trip (we can say that it’s the best outfit to wear in Hoi An!). In Vietnam, local women wear this elegant and sexy costume with a conical hat, so don’t miss it! The price of an ao dai begins from 200,000 VND for a full set of dress and paint. The shops have many colors, and a wide range of size to let buyers choose. Of course, anyone can try on the favourite dress before pay. If have no mirror to look, you can tell a friend to use the phone and take a photo.
Additionally, visitors can find a lot more things to buy at the Hoi An Night Market. There are leather items (shoes, belt, jacket, wallet,…), hats, cheap accessories, paintings, magnets, toys, propaganda pictures,…
To pay for souvenirs at the Hoi An Night Market, the best currency is Vietnam dong (VND). Visitors can get back to the Old Town to exchange or use USD or EUR directly (but the rate can be lower than expected). Cash is accepted only if visitors don’t have a local bank account. There are a couple of ATMs near the market’s entrance, so can go there to withdraw cash. When pay for something, please check the value on the notes carefully (because there are many zero numbers). Check carefully again when local sellers give the balance.

How to Get to Hoi An Night Market
The Hoi An Night Market is on Nguyen Hoang street, An Hoi Island, opposite to the Hoi An Old Town, and still in the centre of Hoi An city. Its entrance is the crossroad between Nguyen Hoang street and Nguyen Phuc Chu street. It means that to get there, visitors need to go to Hoi An central area first.
If stay in the hotel right in Hoi An centre (Minh An, Son Phong, Cam Pho, a part of Cam Nam), visitors just need to walk. To be quicker, can use a bicycle.
If stay by the beaches, the distance to the Hoi An Night Market is from 5 to 7 km. The quickest way is taking a taxi, and it takes around 15 mins. The fare is 15,000-20,000 VND each kilometer. We advise asking how much the total payment before you get in the car and go (to avoid expensive prices later). To get back, visitors need to go to the parking lot in the crossroad Cao Hong Lanh street x Nguyen Phu Chu street x La Hoi street.
It’s possible to ride the motorcycle directly to the Hoi An Night Market. Everyday 3 PM onwards, the street it locates (Nguyen Hoang street) will be for pedestrians only (more clearly, motorbikes and cars are banned). Nearby Nguyen Phuc Chu street is also the same. We advise driving to Phu Dong Primary School on La Hoi street and park there (Google maps link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/RLRjkVujBRHbssEPA). Parking fee is around 10,000 VND for each bike and the service time is up to 10-10:30 PM. From this point, it’s easy to see the market.
From Da Nang, visitors should go to the Hoi An Old Town for sightseeing first (historical sites will close by 6 PM) and then walk to the Hoi An Night Market. In the Old Town, just find the shortest way to see An Hoi Bridge cross Hoai River. After reaching the other side (Nguyen Phuc Chu street), turn right and then look to the left to see the night market.
