Better to Know about Tinh Xa Ngoc Tuyen on Cham Island
Tinh Xa Ngoc Tuyen is a Buddhist temple at Bai Lang Village on Cham Island. It’s constructed from 2007 to 2013 (5 years) and officially opened on 3rd May 2013. In Vietnamese, ‘tinh xa’ means a Buddhist monastery.
Today, local people worship Shakyamuni Biddha at Tinh Xa Ngoc Tuyen. Shakyamuni Buddha was a spiritual sage from ancient India who attained full enlightenment after renouncing his princely life to discover the root cause of human suffering. He founded Buddhism by teaching a path of moderation, mindfulness, and ethical living, aimed at achieving a state of ultimate peace known as Nirvana.
In the front of the worshipping hall, visitors will see a stone statue of Maitreya Buddha. This buddha is recognized in Buddhist tradition as the future Buddha who will eventually appear on Earth to achieve complete enlightenment and restore the teachings of the Dharma. Often depicted in art as a figure of great benevolence and joy, he represents the embodiment of loving-kindness and the promise of a peaceful future era.
In the left of the worshipping hall, there is a shrine to honor Lady Buddha (or Godess of Mercy). This buddha is often associated with the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara or Guan Yin, is a symbol of infinite compassion and mercy who hears the cries of all sentient beings. She is frequently depicted as a towering, elegant figure in white robes, standing as a protector for sailors and a spiritual guardian of the sea.
Like other Buddhist temples in Vietnam, Tinh Xa Ngoc Tuyen has many bodhi trees and banyan trees. The Bodhi tree is revered as the sacred site where Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment, symbolizing spiritual awakening and the ultimate truth of the Dharma. The Banyan tree, often associated with shelter and longevity, is also considered holy in Buddhism for its role in providing shade to the Buddha during his weeks of meditation following his awakening.
