Cham Island Hiking: Two Best Coastal Trails from Bai Lang Village

Hiking on Cham Island primarily involves trekking through the lush, hilly terrain of the Hon Lao interior, where trails lead to panoramic viewpoints overlooking the turquoise sea. These paths allow you to explore the island’s rich biodiversity and primary forests while discovering secluded, pristine beaches away from the main tourist hubs. In this article, HoiAn Day Trip Company will provide the best hiking trails on Cham Island (together with places on each trail).

Best Hiking Trails on Cham Island Vietnam

Bai Lang – Bai Bac Trail

This trail is 2 kilometer long, started from Bai Ong Beach. It’s possible to walk along it, but the best time of the day is afternoon, because it faces west, afternoon sunlight shines directly onto the beach, bringing out the vibrant turquoise color of the water and creating a stunning golden hour sunset.

From Bai Lang, visitors can walk towards Au Thuyen (a typhoon shelter) and then Bai Ong to see the trail.

The most beautiful place on this trail is Bai Bac Beach, a small white sandy beach by crystal-clear water and lush coconut forests. During the day, there are usually no tourists, making this beach most peaceful accessible beach on the island. From the main trail, it’s possible to find the stairs and unpaved path down to it (cross an abandoned resort). Because the area is strictly protected (the no-take zone of the Cham Island Marine Park), fishing, diving or snorkeling isn’t allowed. See more information about Bai Bac Beach

From Bai Ong to Bai Bac, visitors will catch great views.

Bai Lang – Bai Huong Trail

This trail is 4 kilometers long, started from the slope in the southern end of Bai Lang Village and ends at Bai Huong Village, another fishing village on the island. It’s free for any cars and sometimes motorbikes are seen, making it peaceful throughout the day. Trekkers can met fishermen or local ladies who come to forests to collect wild leaves for the traditional herbal drink of the islanders.

The best time of the day to trek this trail is the morning or late afternoon (combine with sunset watching in the last village if go in afternoon).

Along this trail, visitors will see beautiful, white-sandy beaches and outlooks with a view to Hon Mo Island, Hon Dai Island, and Hon Tai Island. From Bai Lang to Bai Huong, there are attractions:

+ First beach – Bai Xep: This exceptionally pristine and wild beach lacks commercial tourism infrastructure, making it a favorite for travelers seeking raw, natural beauty. The stretch of coastline is characterized by clear waters, a quiet atmosphere, and a lack of crowded restaurants or shops. It is highly regarded as one of the best locations on the main island for casual shore-side coral viewing and independent exploring. See more information about Bai Xep

+ Second beach – Bai Chong: Known for its striking landscape, this popular destination features massive, naturally smooth boulders stacked creatively along the shoreline. The beach offers wide stretches of soft sand, rows of shady coconut palms, and convenient facilities like hammocks and seafood restaurants. Reviewers frequently note it as an ideal midday stop for swimming, sunbathing, and snapping iconic island photographs. See more information about Bai Chong

+ Third beach – Bai Bim: no accessible yet for visitors, located inside an abandoned resort.

+ Fourth beach – Bai Huong: Nestled at the foot of a deep green mountain forest, this coastal spot is home to a traditional, tight-knit fishing village of about 100 households. Because the local waters serve as an active harbor filled with anchored wooden boats, it is not recommended for swimming. Instead, visitors come here to experience the slow-paced lifestyle of local fishermen, explore narrow village alleys, and enjoy exceptionally fresh seafood caught daily.

In the end of Bai Huong Village, there is a temple for ancestor of swallow nest gatherers and a small Buddhist temple.

There is no food and drink at Bai Xep (the first beach). Near Bai Chong, there are a couple of retsaurants like Ray Ong Bang (on the main road) and the one down to the beach.

In the end of the trail, visitors can choose to have a drink on the waterside place and watch the sunset.

To return Bai Lang, just ask anyone in Bai Huong Village for a motorbike ride.
