History of Da Nang International Fireworks Festival
The first fireworks competition took place in Da Nang on 27th and 28th March 2008, to celebrate the Liberation day of Da Nang and to attract more tourists. Its name was ‘Da Nang International Fireworks Competition’ (DIFC). The organizer was the People committee of Da Nang city and the main theme is ‘Tien Sa dance’ (related to a local legend about fairy ladies in Tien Sa Beach). There were 4 teams participating: Vietnam, Malaysia, Canada and Hong Kong. Canada was the winner.
In 2009, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was held on 27th and 28th March. Five teams from Vietnam, Philippines, Spain, China and Australia would compete. China won in the final competition.
In 2010, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was held on 27th and 28th March. The main theme is ‘Legendary Han River’. Five teams of Vietnam, Portugal, Japan, France and the United States of America would compete. France won in the final competition.
In 2011, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was held on 29th and 30th April. Five teams from Vietnam, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Italy and China would compete. Italy won in the final competition.
In 2012, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was held on 29th and 30th April. Five teams of Vietnam, Italy (winner of DIFC 2011), France (winner of DIFC 2010), China (winner of DIFC 2009), and Canada (winner of DIFC 2008), would compete. Italy won in the final competition.
In 2013, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was held on 29th and 30th April. Five teams from Vietnam, Russia, Italy, Japan and the United States of America, would compete. USA won in the final competition. Since this year, the festival has taken place biennially.
In 2014, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was not held.
In 2015, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was held on 29th and 30th April. The main theme is ‘Symphony of Colors’. Five teams from Vietnam, the United States of America, Poland, Australia and South Africa, would compete. Australia won in the final competition.
In 2014, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was not held.
In 2017, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was held from 30th April to 24th June. Eight teams from Vietnam, Switzerland, Japan, China, the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia and Austria would compete in 4 nights (Sunday nights). The final competition was on 26th June and Italy won. Since this year, the festival has been called ‘Da Nang International Fireworks Festival’ (DIFF).
In 2018, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was held from 30th April to 30th June. Its main theme is ‘Legend of Bridges’. Eight teams from Vietnam, France, the United States of America, Poland, Italy, Hong Kong, Sweden and Portugal would compete in 4 nights (Sunday nights). The final competition was on 30th June and Italy won again.
In 2019, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was held from 1st June to 6th July. Its main theme is ‘Stories of Rivers’. Eight teams of Vietnam, Russia, Brazil, Belgium, Finland, Italy, the United Kingdom and China would compete in 4 nights (Sunday nights). The final competition was between the United Kingdom and Finland, and Finland won then. In this year, the festival didn’t take place on the holiday of Vietnam’s Reunification day anymore. Da Nang city wanted to attract more tourists in later months.
In 2020, Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic.
In 2021, Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic.
In 2022, Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic.
In 2023, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was held from 2nd June to 8th July. Its main theme is ‘the Borderless World’. Eight teams from Vietnam, Finland, Canada, France, Australia, Italy, Poland and the United Kingdom would compete in 4 nights. The final competition was on 8th July and France won.
In 2024, the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition was held from 8nd June to 13rd July. Its main theme is ‘Made in Unity’. Eight teams from Vietnam, France, the United States, Germany, Italy, Poland, China and Finland would compete in 4 nights. The final competition was on 13rd July and Finland won.

Schedule of Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025
Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025 will take place from 31st May to 12nd July, making it the longest ever competition in history. The main theme this year is ‘Danang – the New Rising Era’. With 10 teams participating in 6 nights, including Vietnam (host city, Da Nang city), Finland, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Poland, South Korea, Italy, Canada and China, this is the largest competition in history too. For the first time, Vietnam has two teams.
Competitions in Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025 will begin at 9:00 PM. Before that, visitors will see performances of singing and dancing.
This is the schedule of Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025:
– The first competition on 31st May 2025 – Legacy of Culture, between Vietnam (Team 1, Da Nang) vs Finland (winner of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2024)
– The second competition on 7th June 2025 – The Art of Creativity between Vietnam (Team 2, Z21) vs Poland (Surex)
– The third competition on 14th June 2025 – the Path of Unity, between Canada vs China

Da Nang International Fireworks Festival Ticket Prices
Ticket price of Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025 is from 800,000 VND to 3,000,000 VND, depending on the seat location. Adults and children taller than 1 meter will pay the same price, and it’s free of charge for smaller children. In A1 Stand (furthest from the main stage), it’s 800,000 VND, and in A2 and A3 Stands (near the main stage), it’s 1,000,000 VND. A seat in the A and AVIP Stands costs 2,000,000 VND and 3,000,000 VND. These stands provide the best view to watch the fireworks and performances of singing, dancing. See the seating plan in the picture below.
There are about 50,000 seats available for each competition. During the festival, the number of seats will increase if more and more tourists come to Da Nang to see.
Visitors can use the physical ticket or E-ticket with a QR code to enter the stands. We advise buying a Da Nang International Fireworks Festival ticket as early as possible, to choose better seats. Because this festival is famous, tickets may be sold out soon and it’s impossible to find one ticket a few days before a competition starts, or have to pay an expensive price to have one ticket. Where to Stay in Da Nang International Fireworks Festival?
The best places to stay during the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival are hotels along the waterfronts of the Han River. There, visitors can find a room with a ‘fireworks view’ or go to their rooftop venue to watch beautiful performances of lights in the sky. By that, you can save time and avoid the traffic congestion or crowds. However, it’s needed to pay a higher price than usual.
Due to high traffic, we do not recommend staying in Hoi An (30 kilometers away from Da Nang city center). If booked, please go to Da Nang early.
How to Get to Main Stage of Da Nang International Fireworks Festival
The main stage of Da Nang International Fireworks Festival is located in the riverside park on the East bank of the Han River, on Tran Hung Dao Street. Its exact location is the crossroad of Nguyen The Loc Street and Tran Hung Dao Street, in An Hai Bac ward of Son Tra district. On Google maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/WKTx6HAScxW3gtdG7. Please remember that this stage is accessible only for those who buy a ticket OR guests from the organizers.
In the night when official fireworks competition occurs, after 5:00 PM, the stretch of Tran Hung Dao Street between Le Van Duyet Street (or Van Don Street) and Vu Van Dung Street, and some nearby streets (Nguyen The Loc Street, An Don Street,…) will be closed. The Han River Bridge and Bach Dang Street (from Ly Thuong Kiet Street to Phan Dinh Phung Street) are closed as well.
To get to the main stage of Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, visitors can choose one of these ways:
– Walking: If your hotel is within walking distance to the main stage, you should walk. From the West bank of the Han River, go across the Han River Bridge. Unless, have a transfer to Nguyen The Loc Street OR the north end of Tran Hung Dao walking street, and then walk to the main stage. From the north end – crossroad of Tran Hung Dao Street and Le Van Duyet Street/Van Don Street, the walk is 1 kilometer long. If start walking from the east end of Nguyen The Loc Street, the distance is only 400 meters. However, the traffic on this street is very busy and getting there is difficult.
In the north end of Tran Hung Dao walking street, visitors will see some motorbike rides. Just pay them a small amount of money to have a ride to the main stage. This service is helpful for seniors.
– Taking a car/taxi/bus to Nguyen The Loc Street OR the north end of Tran Hung Dao walking street, and then walk to the main stage. From the north end – crossroad of Tran Hung Dao Street and Le Van Duyet Street/Van Don Street, the walk is 1 kilometer long. If start walking from the east end of Nguyen The Loc Street, the distance is only 400 meters. However, the traffic on this street is very busy and getting there is difficult.
– Riding the motorbike to Dang Tran Con Street (because it’s still accessible for motorbikes). Parking fee for one motorbike here is 10,000 VND/time. The distance to the main stage is quite short. After the fireworks, there are so many people walking on the streets, so you need to go slowly.
From Hoi An, the distance to the main stage of Da Nang International Fireworks Festival is some 30 kilometers. Visitors can take a private car/taxi/bus or ride the motorbike on their own.

Tips for Da Nang International Fireworks Festival
– Da Nang International Fireworks Festival is not free. Adults and children taller than 1 meter will need to buy a ticket (see the prices above).

– Before or after each fireworks competition of Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, the traffic in Da Nang city center is very busy. That’s why if possible, please book a hotel with a walking distance to the main stage.
– If do not want to see too many people while watching Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, you can book a hotel along the waterfronts of Han River with a fireworks view, OR reserve a table on rooftop venues of tall riverside hotels, OR book a seat on cruises. Prices for these services are often higher than common during the festival.
