[Updated in November 2024] Today, there are some alpine coasters (self driven roller coasters) in the Fantasy Park, the amusement park of Ba Na Hills in Da Nang Vietnam. Many visitors like riding on them to get adrenaline rush as well as having a nice photo in the end of the ride. At the moment, it’s needed to pay an extra fee to do this outdoor activity but worth doing. The Alpine Coaster 1 at Ba Na Hills was built in March 2013 and then opened on 13rd June 2013. At that time, it’s the longest roller coaster in the mountains in Vietnam. It’s also the first alpine coaster in the world that had a two-slide track. This is produced by Josef Wiegand GmbH & Co. KG, a medium-sized family company headquartered in Rasdorf, founded by Josef Wiegand in the 1970s. This is its 6th building in Vietnam, after ones in Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Da Lat, and Kien Giang. It’s titled ‘Da Nang I’.
After the ride finishes, visitors just need to climb stairs to return to the entrance of the Fantasy Park (where previously queued up to do the ride). From here, visitors have two options to continue discovering Ba Na Hills:
Option 1: going inside the Fantasy Park to participate in enthralling rides, games and videos or see/photograph famous figures around the world at the Wax Museum, or back to the dinosaur era at the Jurassic Park.
Option 2: climbing stairs to the ground and then visit Saint Denis Church, the French Village, Helios Waterfall, Ba Na Hills Brewery, King Peak, Eclipse Plaza, Lunar/Moon Castle, or experience the ride on Funicular 2 between Lunar Castle and French Village.
Alpine Coaster 2 at Ba Na Hills

The Alpine Coaster 2 at Ba Na Hills was inaugurated on 10th November 2018 and re-opened on 1st June 2024, after renovation and improvement. It’s produced by Josef Wiegand GmbH & Co. KG, a medium-sized family company headquartered in Rasdorf, founded by Josef Wiegand in the 1970s. This is its 7th building in Vietnam, after ones in Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Da Lat, and Kien Giang. It’s titled ‘Da Nang II’.
When the ride finishes, visitors will get out by the gate in Level B1, the highest level of the Fantasy Park. From here, it’s easy to go to the Wax Museum (go up by the escalator near the bumper car) and Jurassic Park (near the souvenir shop and toilet) or go downstairs to see more. If do not want to spend time at the amusement park, from Level B1, visitors can go straight (towards the giant spider) to find the elevator to go back to the ground OR go to the main entrance and then climb stairs. Both of these ways lead to Square Du Dome lying in the heart of a huge complex where visitors can find French Village, Helios Waterfall, Ba Na Brewery, King Peak, Saint Denis Church, Eclipse Square, Atlas Statue, Lunar Castle, etc.
If have to choose Alpine Coaster 1 or Alpine Coaster 2 in Ba Na Hills, Alpine Coaster 1 will be better as recommended by staff. However, due to some reasons (weather, maintenance, long queue,…), this one is closed and visitors need to ride the other. The rides on both tracks are not too different.
Alpine Coaster 3 at Ba Na Hills

The Alpine Coaster 3 is the newest alpine coaster at Ba Na Hills, opened in July 2024. Once again, it’s produced by Josef Wiegand GmbH & Co. KG, a medium-sized family company headquartered in Rasdorf, founded by Josef Wiegand in the 1970s. It’s titled ‘Da Nang III’.

Alpine Coaster Ba Na Hills Tickets
The price of most alpine coasters at Ba Na Hills is 70,000 VND/person/time. Visitors will buy tickets on site and join the queue if come during a busy time. To pay, both cash (VND) and credit cards are accepted. All alpine coasters are in and near the Fantasy Park, the amusement park of Ba Na Hills. From Golden Hands Bridge, it’s needed to get the cable car from Bordeaux Station to Louvre Station and then walk outside.
Group tours and private tours often give visitors a free time at the Fantasy Park to go on thrilling rides or play games or watch movies here.
Regulations For Riders for Alpine Coasters in Ba Na Hills
– To operate alpine coasters at Ba Na Hills, good weather is required, such as no rain, no cloudy or no strong wind. For that reason, there is no exact timetable/schedule for this type of entertainment. Come and check! The best day to go should be a sunny day, and the best time in the mountain may be morning and early afternoon.
– Riders must be 1,4 meters in height and above. Those whose height is from 1 to 1,4 meters, need to go with parents or adult visitors. Kids under 1 meters can not ride the alpine coasters at Ba Na Hills due to safety reasons.
– Taller person should sit behind.
– One car will carry 2 persons. The one sitting behind will use the handbrake lever to increase/decrease the speed. However, 1 person is still allowed, especially for solo travelers who don’t want to share with a stranger.
– Visitors will self drive downhill and to go back, the car automatically moves up.
– Alpine coaster ticket price is NOT included by Ba Na Hills entry ticket. See more information & details
– Riders should not bring personal items that are easy to fall on the cart. Put everything in the bag and use a locker before beginning riding. Although the ride is good for photos and videos, visitors can not use the phone or camera during it, for safety reasons.
– While riding, it’s needed to keep a safety distance (25 meters) to other carts in the front. Additionally, do not hit other carts!
– Riders who have heart-related and blood pressure-related diseases can NOT ride alpine coasters at Ba Na Hills.
– Remain seated with your seatbelt fastened (until the cart stops).
– Prosthetic legs/arms can be removable.
– Pregnant people can NOT ride Ba Na Hills alpine coasters.
– Rides who use drugs, alcohol or get drunk will be refused to ride Ba Na Hills alpine coasters.
– Visitors who are older than 60, can NOT ride Ba Na Hills alpine coasters.
– There are 3 alpine coasters to select, so if the queue is long, visitors should go to two others to check. The distance between them is not long.
Photo Service for Ba Na Hills Alpine Coasters
While riding the cart along the track, one of the cameras will take some photos for riders. After the ride finishes, visitors can choose the best photo from the computer to print it and keep as a souvenir. The price is from 100,000 to 150,000 VND for one picture, depending on the size. The picture has the back side as Golden Hands Bridge, the world-famous place in the park. This service is available during the opening hours of alpine coasters at Ba Na Hills.
