Vandegrift Combat Base (originally established as LZ Stud) was a major U.S. Army and Marine Corps military facility located along Route 9 in Quang Tri Province. Built in 1968 to support Operation Pegasus and the relief of the besieged Khe Sanh Combat Base, it later functioned as a vital logistical and aviation hub for major regional offensives. Occupied sequentially by American and South Vietnamese forces, the base played an instrumental staging role in cross-border operations before being dismantled and eventually abandoned.
