Established as a Green Beret outpost in 1962, the Khe Sanh Combat Base evolved into a heavily fortified U.S. Marine garrison designed to monitor communist supply infiltration along the Laotian border. In early 1968, the isolated installation endured a grueling 77-day siege characterized by relentless artillery barrages and infantry assaults from the People’s Army of Vietnam. Sustained primarily by massive aerial resupply and heavy bombing, the garrison held until relief operations broke the encirclement, though the base was dismantled shortly after and now operates as a historical memorial museum.

The Rockpile
*In this tour, visitors will see the Rockpile from afar (Highway 9) because it’s not yet accessible.
The Rockpile is an isolated, steep limestone outcropping in Quang Tri Province that the U.S. military utilized as a vital strategic observation post and artillery fire support base. Because helicopters provided the sole means of access, this rugged stronghold allowed spotters to monitor enemy movements across the surrounding valleys and coordinate long-range strikes. Dakrong Bridge (Ho Chi Minh Trail)
The Đakrông Bridge served as a vital logistical gateway and crossing point along the sprawling Ho Chi Minh Trail network during the Vietnam War. Because of its strategic value for moving troops and supplies south through rugged terrain, the surrounding valley was heavily targeted by American air strikes and fiercely contested. – Our driver & guide will pick you at your hotel in Da Nang city center (including Hai Chau District, Son Tra District except Nai Hien Dong ward & Tho Quang ward, Ngu Hanh Son District except Hoa Hai ward & Hoa Quy ward) or Hoi An city center.
– In the end of the tour, our driver & guide will drop you off at your hotel.
– Pickup surcharge is required to visitors staying NOT in Da Nang city center or Hoi An city center.
– All surcharges are payable in cash directly to your tour guide.
– No pick up & drop off service in Tan Hiep area of Hoi An (Cham Island).
– Children above 1,4 meters height OR 10 years old will be charged same to adults.
