The best time to visit Black Rock Beach (Bai Da Den) in the year is the dry season, from February to the end of August. In this period, the weather is beautiful, with lots of sun and no rain. For that reason, it’s a perfect time to sightsee, sunbathe, go swimming, take pictures, and play water sports.
The worst time of the year to visit Black Rock Beach (Bai Da Den) is the rainy season, from September to January. The weather in these months is mostly rainy and cloudy, so it’s not really great to head over to the beach. What to Expect in Black Rock Beach Da Nang?
On the west coast of Son Tra Peninsula (Monkey Mountain) and nestled in dense forests of Son Tra Nature Reserve, the Black Rock Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang. It’s a crescent beach with black stones (which make its name) with blue and clear water in the front. From here, visitors will see Hai Van Pass‘s mountain range. During the rainy season, its peaks are covered by clouds.
Usually, local people do not go swimming in the Black Rock Beach (Bai Da Den). So, visitors should follow. If want to go picnic or go camping, this beach is a perfect place. Sometimes, there are many local people coming here to go fishing. If you are interested, bring your own fishing rob.
In the surrounding area of the Black Rock Beach (Bai Da Den), visitors can find the opportunities to watch and photograph the red shanked douc langurs, one of the most endangered primates on the planet. This species is the symbol of the peninsula/nature reserve.
The 4,5-kilometers-long trail to the Black Rock Beach (Bai Da Den) goes through well-protected forests and provides viewpoints with a beautiful scenery (ocean, mountains, rocks, green vegetation,…). How to Get to Black Rock Beach Da Nang
The Black Rock Beach (Bai Da Den) is on the west coast of Son Tra Peninsula (Monkey Mountain), northeast Da Nang city center. It lies within the Son Tra nature reserve. Geographically, it’s in Tho Quang ward, Son Tra district, Da Nang city, Vietnam.
To get to the Black Rock Beach (Bai Da Den), visitors need to hike or ride the motorbike (automatic bikes are not allowed). From Yet Kieu Road, the trail is around 4,5 kilometers long (started at this point on Google maps: 16°07’07.2″N 108°13’28.9″E). After that, at this point (16°08’44.9″N 108°14’09.8″E), turn left and follow another trail until its end. To see the beach, it’s needed to go downhill to the coast.
From Da Nang, visitors can take a taxi, private car/van/bus or ride the motorbike to Yet Kieu Road. From Hoi An, the distance is some 40 kilometers. The best motorbike route is the coastal road Lac Lac Long Quan Street. Follow it northwards until seeing Le Duc Tho Street on the left hand side. Turn left, go straight and at crossroad of Le Duc Tho Street and Ngo Quyen Street, turn right to enter Yet Kieu Street.
