Best Time to Visit Bai Xep Beach (Cham Island)

The best time to visit Xep Beach (Bai Xep) in Cham Islands in the year is the dry season, from February to the end of August. In this period, the weather is beautiful, with lots of sun and no rain. For that reason, it’s a perfect time to sightsee, sunbathe, go swimming, take pictures, and play water sports.

The worst time of the year to visit Xep Beach (Bai Xep) in Cham Islands is the rainy season, from September to January. The weather in these months is mostly rainy and cloudy, so it’s not really great to head over to the beach. Between October and December/January, typhoons may hit the area, causing very strong winds and waves as well as heavy rains and floods.

In December and January, generally it often rains. The heaviest rain will be in late December and early January (around Christmas, New year holidays). In late January, visitors can expect dry or sunny days to visit Xep Beach (Bai Xep) in Cham Islands. Check the weather forecast to choose the best days or hours!

What to Expect in Bai Xep Beach on Cham Island?

Bai Xep Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Cham Island, Hoi An. It has a 500-meters-long stretch of white, fine sand with blue, unpolluted water on one side (west) and lush forests on the other side (east). It’s also surrounded by mountains and hills covered by green forests. On a sunny day, this beach provides an extremely fresh and cool breeze, and the view to other islands of the archipelago. It’s little paradise on Earth.

Because Bai Xep Beach is not in the itinerary of any tours, it becomes one of the most peaceful beaches on Cham Island. There are no constructions or activities here at all. Therefore, this is a perfect place to escape from the city or crowds of tourists.

Bai Xep Beach and Bai Ong Beach are the closest beaches from the main village Bai Lang of Cham Island. Compared to Bai Ong Beach, Bai Xep Beach is much more peaceful because of no tourist activities. If staying overnight on the island, we recommend visiting both of these places.

In Bai Xep Beach, visitors can go swimming without risk because the water is clean, not deep and free from sharks. After taking a dip into the sea, to wash your body, you can follow the locals to use the fresh water from a small stream near the beach’s entrance. During the dry season (February to September), no water sports are available in Bai Xep Beach. If have a snorkel and like exploring the marine life yourself, this place offers beautiful offshore corals and fishes to watch and take photos.

Keep in mind that just go swimming at Bai Xep Beach when local residents do it, especially when you come to Cham Island in the end of the dry season or during the wet season, for safety reason.

Hon Nhon (a rock rising above the sea near Bai Xep Beach) is one of the easiest snorkeling spot to access in Cham Islands. Both adults and children can swim there and then see the corals. However, it’s needed to observe carefully here to avoid the boats.

There is no public toilet or restaurant to have fresh water for washing/taking shower at Bai Xep Beach. However, the islanders use the water from a small stream there instead.

The another thing that Bai Xep Beach doesn’t have is food. Visitors won’t see any restaurant or bar to get food and drinks here. For that reason, if want to spend a couple of hours around the midday, it’s needed to bring our own stuff to eat. If possible, come to this beach earlier a bit and then move to Bai Lang Village or Bai Chong Beach for lunch.

How to Get to Bai Xep Beach on Cham Island

Bai Xep Beach is on the largest island of the Cham Islands, and close to the main fishing village (Bai Lang) on this island. To reach this island from the mainland Da Nang or Hoi An, visitors need to take a speed boat or ferry from Cua Dai Port. Boat ride will be 20-30 minutes, depending on the weather of the day. Read our guide How to Get to Cham Island for more information.

After reaching the island, from the wharf in Bai Lang – the main village of Cham Island, the distance to Bai Xep Beach is around 2 kilometers. If staying overnight in the village, visitors can get there by walking. Just going southwards and along the coastal road (to Bai Huong Village), you will see Bai Xep Beach on the right hand side. On the way, you may see some monkeys (so please don’t show them food!). If like getting there by motorbike, the slope from Bai Lang Village will be steep. If just visit this beach, you can pay for a motorbike ride, and remember to ask his/her phone number for the ride back.

From Bai Huong Village, another area to stay overnight on the island, the distance to Bai Xep Beach is around 4 kilometers. If have a free plan and good level of fitness, walking there. The another way is riding the motorbike or taking a ride from local rider. Between this village and the beach, don’t miss Bai Chong Beach, another beautiful beach.

There is no speed boat going to Bai Xep Beach at the moment. If hire a private wooden boat from local people, it’s possible.

Thus, Bai Xep Beach is absolutely the easiest beach to go to on Cham Island.
