Best Time to Stay on Cham Island Vietnam

The best time to visit Cham Island is from March to August. During these months, the weather is warm and sunny with calm, turquoise waters—perfect for snorkeling the coral reefs and trekking between villages.

Conversely, the worst time to visit is from October to February. This period marks the monsoon season, bringing heavy rains, strong winds, and rough seas that often lead to boat cancellations for days at a time. Many local businesses close during this window, and visibility for diving drops significantly, making it a frustrating time for travelers seeking the island’s natural beauty.

Where to Stay on Cham Island Vietnam?

Note: Visitors must check the weather forecast carefully in advance if want to stay overnight on Cham Island, for both arrival and return days. Our recommendation is selecting the day(s) in the middle of the best season to make sure that everything is still in the plan.

If possible, please ask the homestay or a travel agency or anyone who live on the island to know the exact accessible days and inaccessible days.

If do not check the weather forecast, you may be stuck on Cham Island and have to cancel activities or flights on the other day(s).

Today, there are some thousands of visitors coming to Cham Islands. It’s still possible to find an accommodation to spend the night like homestay, hotel, hostels (homestays are most popular). Looking for the luxury hotel to have an escape? You may need to come back next time to book one because of no resort opened yet at the present (2026).

To book an accommodation on Cham Islands, visitors can use global platforms just like anywhere or contact directly with the owners of the homestay/hotel if want to make sure that they receive the reservation. How to pay? We recommend paying by card in advance if possible. However, when the total payment is small, go for cash if the locals want it. Once again, there is no ATM on Cham Island, so please bring cash VND with you from the city.

There are two best places (areas) to stay on Cham Island:

Bai Lang Village: the bustling heart of Cham Island, acting as the main gateway where colorful fishing boats and tourist ferries dock. As the island’s oldest residential area, it features a charming mix of ancient pagodas, local markets, and traditional stilt houses nestled against lush greenery. Visitors can immerse themselves in the authentic island lifestyle by sampling fresh seafood or exploring the nearby Marine Protected Area office.

Best places to stay in Bai Lang Village:

Pros and cons when stay in Bai Lang Village:

– Pros: near the pier where boats from the mainland picks up and drops off, many sightseeing places like Hai Tang Pagoda, Bai Ong Beach, Bai Lang Beach, Tan Hiep Market (seafood, souvenir market),… as well as local restaurants, convenient stores, internet, shopping,…

– Cons: the village will be busy in the morning and early afternoon by tourists in daily tours (but it’s peaceful in the evening).

Bai Huong Village: a serene fishing hamlet located on the southern coast of Cham Island, offering a more peaceful and rustic alternative to the busier main port. The village is renowned for its commitment to homestay tourism, allowing visitors to experience authentic local life while staying with families who have lived there for generations. Surrounded by crystal-clear waters and rugged cliffs, it is an ideal spot for those looking to enjoy quiet beaches and traditional seafood prepared with a local touch. See more details
