Best Time to Visit Sao Beach Phu Quoc
The best time of the year to visit Sao Beach in Phu Quoc is the dry season, particularly from November to April. During this period, it’s sunny throughout the day, and the beach itself looks like a little paradise (crystal-clear and warm water, dry sand, lush trees, small waves, blue sky). That’s perfect for going swimming, sun bathing, getting tanned, and taking part in water sports/activities. In addition, the weather is also great for going fishing in the sea, providing extremely fresh seafood which visitors are willing to try in Phu Quoc. However, because it’s a high season, prices may be higher and crowds are commonly seen at Sao Beach.
In the rest of the year, it’s cloudy and rainy. Water activities and sports may be not available.

Things to Do in Sao Beach Phu Quoc
Sao Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Phu Quoc Vietnam. It boasts a wide, crescent, and 2,5-kilometers-long stretch of white fine sand, lying between coconut trees and turquoise blue water. At its ends, there are hills (or capes) covered by dense tropical forests. Natural beauty of this beach was praised by international travel publications such as Le Figaro and Conde Nas Traveler.
During days with good weather, visitors can participate these activities at Sao Beach Phu Quoc:
– sightsee and take photos: natural scenery at Sao Beach is heaven-like, including crystal-clear water, green forests, blue sky, white sand, and the view to mountains and offshore islands. It’s absolutely one of iconic beaches on Phu Quoc Island. The best time to photograph is the morning (before 8 am) and afternoon (just before sunset) when lighting is soft and warm. However, photo seekers also can avoid the midday heat. If rent a drone, the price will be 500,000 VND.
Under coconut trees, there are lots of sun beds and chairs to hire and lie down for relaxation. Guests of hotel or restaurant can use them for free.
– go swimming: Sao Beach offers shallow, unpolluted water and small waves, making it one of the most swimmable beaches in Phu Quoc. Lifeguards here are attentive, well-trained, and always ready to help.

How to Get to Sao Beach Phu Quoc
Sao Beach is located near the southeastern tip of Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam. Here, there are two swimming spots: Sao Beach 1 (near Chezdugong Restaurant and Highlands Coffee) and Sao Beach 2 (near Sao Beach Club & Restaurant). Both of these places are accessible by road vehicles and boats. There is one more swimming spot at Paradiso near the north end of the beach.
The distance to Sao Beach from Sunset Town, An Thoi Town, and Khem Beach is about 6 kilometers. Visitors can take a taxi, private car/bus, or ride the motorbike. We recommend booking a roundtrip transfer to have return drive from the beach (because of no taxi service). If want to ride the motorbike, find the shortest route to Khem Beach crossroad (Google map: 10°02’08.3″N 104°01’03.4″E). After that, follow DT46 Road or Nguyen Van Cu Road towards the north until this point on map 10°03’36.9″N 104°01’02.4″E. Turn right, keep going until the end to see Sao Beach. Parking is free for bike.
On the way from Sunset Town, An Thoi Town, and Khem Beach, visitors can visit Phu Quoc Prison (Coconut Prison).
The distance to Sao Beach from Duong Dong is nearly 30 kilometers. Visitors can take a taxi, private car/bus, or ride the motorbike. If want to go by motorbike, ride along 30 Thang 4 Road until Ham Ninh roundabout (Google map: 10°10’29.3″N 104°01’03.9″E), and then turn right to enter DT46 Road or Nguyen Van Cu Road. Go straight until see this point on map 10°03’36.9″N 104°01’02.4″E. Turn left, keep going until the end to see Sao Beach. Parking is free for bike.
The distance to Sao Beach from Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) is nearly 30 kilometers. If stay overnight in a hotel/resort by Sao Beach, visitors can take a taxi or book a private transfer in advance.
Additionally, visitors can reach Sao Beach Phu Quoc by boat from Khem Beach or An Thoi Port.
