What to Expect in Moon Square in Ba Na Hills?
The Moon Square is the hosting place of the biggest show ever in Ba Na Hills: ‘the Battle of the Moon Kingdom’. This 20-minute show takes place at 10:15 am and 11:15 am in all days of the week (except Tuesday). It’s debuted on 30th April 2022, and lasts until the end of the dry season (August). Like the Sunshine Carnival that was previously introduced in 2019, the director is still Pham Hoang Nam, one of the most famous Vietnamese cinematographers.
The Battle of the Moon Kingdom is really worth watching because it’s performed by over 160 artists (including 90 dancers coming from different parts of the world). Plus great music, beautiful costumes which performers wear, and skills of professional performers, it brings the viewers an experience beyond their expectations.
The show tells the audience about a story in which the Queen of Lunar Castle (and her close assistants) protect the castle from invasions of evils. In the end, it delivers a message about peace and independence.
It’s free of charge to watch the Battle of the Moon Kingdom. Visitors should be in the Moon Square at least 15 minutes before the show time to have the best seats. Because of being outdoor, please bring hat/cap or umbrella to cover.
In 2025, the Battle of Moon Kingdom at Moon Square, Lunar Castle is not available anymore. Hoi An Day Trip Company will update the latest information about this show soon when it’s back.
After or before watching the big show at Moon Square, visitors should not miss Flying Eyes Theatre (participants ride the airship to see wonders of the world) and Moon Junction Theatre (participants wear a 3D glasses and watch a cinematic video/movie).

How to Get to Moon Square in Ba Na Hills
The Moon Square sits on the top of the Lunar Castle, the largest castle in Ba Na Hills Vietnam. To get to this theme park, visitors need to take the cable car after 1 hour drive from Da Nang or Hoi An.
The shortest cable car to the Lunar Castle is the one boarding at the Bordeaux station (near the Golden Hands Bridge). This ride is short, about 5 mins. After landing, visitors can go to the Eclipse Square (get the escalator/escalator 2 times) and then walking, or go to the Holy Well station to ride the funicular (the station is on the lowest storey of Arapang restaurant).
If ride the cable car at Thac Toc Tien station or Debay station, visitors will land at L’Indochine station or Morin station. After going outside, let’s walk to the Louvre station or Arapang restaurant. If ride the cable car at Champa station, the arrival station is Taiga station. From here, to reach the Lunar Castle, it’s needed to walk through the French Village, and then find the Louvre station or Arapang restaurant.
To go to the park (Ba Na Hills) from Da Nang, visitors can take a ride by car/taxi/van/bus or drive the motorbike (not recommended for those who have lugguage). For a better price, we advise booking a roundtrip transfer to Ba Na Hills, instead of one way. The price is from 700,000 VND, and the driver can wait for some hours. The best route for riding the motorbike is Ba Na – Suoi Mo road, a wide and low traffic road. From the hotel, visitors just need to find the shortest/quickest way to see it and then follow it until the security man at Ba Na Hills tells to stop. Parking here is free.
From Hoi An, the best ways to reach Ba Na Hills (including the French Village) is by car and motorbike. A drive by car is about 1 hour long, costing from 1,000,000 VND for a roundtrip. Driving the motorbike isn’t too difficult but it takes a bit to find the right directions on the way. Firstly, visitors need to follow the coastal road Lac Long Quan St until see Nam Ky Khoi Nghia St (in Da Nang), and then turn left, follow that road until can’t go anymore (due to construction). After that, follow QL1A highway and then Ba Na Suoi Mo road to the end.
