How Many Days to Stay in Da Nang, Hoi An & Hue?
The ideal time to spend in Da Nang, Hoi An and Hue (Central Vietnam) is 5 to 7 days. This gives you the perfect balance of imperial history, beachside relaxation, and old-world charm without feeling rushed.
Da Nang Hoi An Hue Itinerary for 5 Days
Da Nang as Base
Day 1: Day trip to Hoi An in the south. In the morning, enjoy a bicycle ride through rice fields and villages with a basket boat tour in the end. If need a tour, see details in Hoi An countryside bike tour. Go to Hoi An Old Town for lunch (trying famous Banh Mi sandwich at Banh Mi Phuong or Madam Khanh stalls for example).
After lunch, walk around this heritage area, stop at a coffee for taking break, and sightsee historical sites like Japanese Bridge, Tan Ky House, Fujian Assembly Hall, Hoi An Central Market. At night, see lanterns on major streets and the river, and come to Nguyen Hoang Night Market. For dinner, taste street foods or visit one of Morning Glory restaurants.

Day 4: Day trip to My Son Sanctuary and Marble Mountains in the southwest. Morning, visit Hindu temples at My Son (world heritage site) and watch the traditional art show there. Have lunch with special noodle Mi Quang at a retaurant in this place. In the afternoon, hike the Water Mountain (the only accessible hill in Marble Mountains) and see temples, caves, view points there. Day 5: Da Nang city tour. In the morning, visit giant Lady Buddha + Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula (as known as Monkey Mountain). If have time, reach the top of the peninsula (Ban Co Peak) to see the panoramic views and get a chance to see rare langurs. The second place is Museum of Cham Sculpture and Dragon Bridge next to it. For lunch, try the famous pancake at Banh Xeo Ba Duong (Michelin-selected) tucked away in the small alley.

Here are some recommendations from us:
– Have a full day in Hoi An area instead of just one night as suggested by many bloggers. Hoi An has a lot of things to do so far from walking around the Old Town.
– If travel between March and August, consider replacing Hue day trip by Cham Islands. The trip to Cham Islands is much shorter, by that, do not make you too tired. When go with kids or seniors, choose this archipelago instead.
– During wet season, especially October to January, check the weather carefully for Ba Na Hills/Golden Bridge trip. If it’s rainy, choose another to go.
– All visitors need to take cable car up to 1.500 meters above sea level to see Ba Na Hills and Golden Bridge. If afraid of heigh or any health issues, please consider carefully.
– For history lover, Hue’s royal monuments, Hoi An’s Old Town and My Son’s temples never should be missed. They’re honored to be UNESCO world heritage site in 1990s.
– From Friday to Sunday, watching the fire and water show at Dragon Bridge Da Nang is a must do.
– Between Hue and Da Nang/Hoi An, Hai Van Pass is a must see. If possible, take train through this pass for scenic views.
– Temples in Da Nang require a dress code (long pants, long sleeve shirt,…).
– There are many stairs in Marble Mountains. Senior visitors can use elevator, but just can see 1 temple only.
– In the evening at Hoi An, there are 2 amazing shows: Teh Dar and Hoi An Memories. If feel enough with lantern streets, lantern river and night market, go for one or two of these shows.
– On Saturdays from May to August, Da Nang International Fireworks will take place. It’s the biggest festival during the year.
Hoi An as Base
Many visitors choose Hoi An as their base because one of these reasons:
(1) They will visit a local tailor shop for making suit, dress,… For the best quality, the shop needs 2-3 days or even 3-5 days.
(2) Hoi An has many activities for kid.
(3) Hoi An has more culture things to do, local experiences….that can not be found in Da Nang and even other places in Vietnam.
(4) Hoi An is nice for walking and cycling.
To go to Hoi An, visitors need to have a transfer from Da Nang International Airport (DAD) for 30-40 mins.
This is the itinerary for 5 days in Da Nang, Hoi An and Hue from Hoi An:
Day 1: Hoi An city tour. In the morning, have a walking tour in Hoi An Old Town (world heritage site) and sightsee historical sites like Japanese Bridge, Tan Ky House, Fujian Assembly Hall, Hoi An Central Market. Day 5: Join a hands-on cooking class with local market and boat trip on Thu Bon River. During it, visitors will learn how to make several Vietnamese dishes (like the fried spring roll, banh xeo/crispy pancake, papaya salad or banana flower salad,…) and then eat them. After lunch, visit Reaching Out Teahouse, a tranquil social enterprise cafe that offers a unique, mindful tea-tasting experience served by speech and hearing-impaired staff in a beautifully preserved traditional home. If don’t like tea or coffee, visitors can shop around the town to choose the nicest souvenirs and gifts to bring home.
In the evening, watch the Hoi An Mermories Show inside the Hoi An Impression Theme Park. This park opens from 16:00, and from the Old Town, visitors can walk or take a short taxi ride to Moonlight Bridge.
If walk, stop and see Hoi An Precious Heritage Art Gallery Museum by Rehann on the way, or/and try specialty noodles of Hoi An (Mi Quang, Cao Lau) at nearby Mi Quang Ong Hai stall.
From 17:00 to 19:00, there are many minishows and cultural activities. There are some themed villages to see and to have beautiful photos.
The show takes place at 20:00 (and ends at 21:00), but the theater opens at 19:30. If book Eco class or High class, come early to have a seat with a good view (middle zone).
Here are some recommendations from us:
– The most famous event in Hoi An: Hoi An Lantern Festival will take place every full moon night (the 14th day of each lunar month). If possible, this date should be one of days in your travel plan. If can not change the plan, days without lantern festival is also nearly 90% similar and less crowded.

Da Nang Hoi An Hue Itinerary for 6 Days
If have 6 days in Da Nang, Hoi An and Hue, visitors should stay overnight in Da Nang or/and Hoi An, and have a day trip to Hue only (no overnight stay).
Day 1 (Da Nang): Da Nang Famous Mountains + Downtown
Brief itinerary: Da Nang Airport → Hotel in Da Nang → Marble Mountains → Lady Buddha, Linh Ung Pagoda → Da Nang downtown for nightlife
Morning: Fly to Da Nang (Da Nang International Airport) and go to the hotel for check in. If like exploring (rather than leisuring), visitors should book a hotel along seafront road of My Khe Beach or Han River waterfronts or between Han River and the beach.
In the afternoon, have a Da Nang city tour with Marble Mountains (Buddhist temples, caves, views), Lady Buddha (67 meters), and Linh Ung Son Tra Pagoda (largest temple of the city, views). In Marble Mountains, it’s needed to climb stairs to see the attractions. There is one elevator available to use, but it takes to one temple only (Linh Ung Pagoda). In the evening, there are 2 options:
Option 1 (Monday-Thursday): Cruise ride on Han River for 1 hour, have dinner at Madam Lan (Michelin-selected), nightlife and take the view from Novotel hotel’s rooftop bar.
Option 2 (Friday-Sunday): Dragon Bridge and nearby Son Tra Night Market. The fire and water show takes place at 21:00.
Day 2 (Da Nang): Hue City Day Trip
Brief itinerary: Da Nang → Hai Van Pass → Hue Imperial City, Thien Mu Pagoda, Khai Dinh Tomb → Da Nang
Have breakfast and then go to Hue city (approx 100km north of Da Nang).
Visit Hai Van Pass and Lap An Lagoon on the way from Da Nang to Hue. From October to January, it’s often misty/cloudy around the top of Hai Van Pass, so check the weather forecast carefully before driving up there. At this point, Hai Van Gate was built from the 19th century.
If do not like car/bus, go to Hue city by train. The best option is the heritage train (tourist train) which boards from Da Nang Railway Station and stops at Hue Railway Station. Some international travel magazines praised the ride through Hai Van Pass as one of the most beautiful train journeys worldwide.
Have lunch at a local restaurant in Hue. This city is absolutely well known for its local cuisine, so choose local dishes to try than national foods.
In the afternoon, visit Hue Imperial City (Royal Palace), Thien Mu Pagoda, and Khai Dinh Tomb. Historical sites require a strict dress code to enter (long pants, long sleeve shirt,…). Inside the Royal Palace, visitors need to walk (if not, buy a buggy ticket to skip walking). Watching sunset on the Perfume River from the pagoda is stunning, so you may need to see the market first.
In the evening, have a dinner at a good Vietnamese restaurant in Da Nang (why not seafood feast?). After that, go to a spa for massage (following a long day trip to Hue) and then take a rest at hotel.
Day 3 (Da Nang): Ba Na Hills + Golden Hands Bridge
Have breakfast at hotel, and then visit Ba Na Hills (opening from 8:00). From October to January, check weather forecast carefully before visiting because this place is often rainy an cloudy that months.
Take the cable car from Hoi An Station or Suoi Mo Station if want to see Golden Hands Bridge first. Buy a skip the line ticket (called wow pass) when come in a busy day. Price is 300.000-1.000.000 VND per person.
Walk through Golden Hands Bridge, and then see places on the same hill (Debay Wine Cellar, Big Buddha, Linh Ung Pagoda, flower gardens,…).
In Ba Na Hills, have lunch at a buffet restaurant (Four Seasons, Bharata, La Crique,…). If don’t like buffet, there are many other options like Ba Na 1901 inside the beer factory, Brasserie, Kungfu Noodle, Anh Tuyet, Ngoc Chi, Kavkaz,…
Do not miss French Village with cobblestone streets and iconic Saint Denis Church.
Do not miss Ba Na Brew House if can drink beer. Free voucher for SunKraft Beer tasting is given to any adult visitor until 17:00 (applicable in 2026).
From 13:30 to 14:00, there is a cabaret show at Beer Plaza next to this brewery (free now, 18+ visitors access only, not available on Tuesday).
Do not miss Fantasy Park if travel with kids, young adults. This park has three alpine coasters (need to buy ticket).
Climb to Nui Chua Peak (King Peak) at elevation of 1.500m to see temples and a full view of French Village. There are many stairs to this summit.
Go to Lunar Castle by funicular train if it’s still early to go back.
Take cable car down from Ba Na Hills at L’Indochine Station or Morin Station or Taiga Station.

Have breakfast at hotel, check out and go to Hoi An (approx 30-40 mins drive). You can book a hotel near Old Town or An Bang Beach or near rice fields.
In the morning, have a walking heritage tour in Hoi An Old Town. Buy a UNESCO entrance ticket (120.000 VND) and see 5 historical sites like Japanese Bridge, Tan Ky House or Phung Hung House, Fujian Assembly Hall or Cantonese Assembly Hall, Museum of Folklore, Hoi An Central Market. Do not miss the show at Hoi An Traditional Art Performance House (66 Bach Dang).
Hoi An Old Town is most pedestrian friendly between 9:00 and 11:30 because of no car, motorbike.
Have lunch with famous food like Cao Lau, Banh Mi (Banh Mi Phuong or Madam Khanh). After that, go to a coffee shop.
Visit a favorite custom-made tailor shop for suit making before heritage walk, if have a plan before.
In the afternoon, go on a cycling tour through Hoi An’s countryside. There are 2 options:
Option 1 (Tra Que and Cam Thanh villages): rice fields, vegetable growing village, coconut village, water buffalo riding, crab fishing, basket boat tour in mangrove forest, duck farm,… If need a guided tour, see itinerary in Hoi An countryside bike tour
Option 2 (Cam Kim Island): rice fields, woodworking, rice paper making, noodle making, mat weaving, rice wine making,… If need a guided tour, see itinerary in Cam Kim bike tour
If can’t cycle or it’s just too hot, do this countryside tour by car/van or electric buggy.
In the first night, of course, Nguyen Hoang Street Night Market is the must see. If no street food, have dinner at one of Morning Glory restaurants (Morning Glory Original, Morning Glory Signature, Vy Market, Cargo Club,…)
At intersection of Bach Dang and Nguyen Thai Hoc roads, from 19:00/19:30, visitors can play traditional game Bai Choi with locals. This stage is more active in weekends or public holidays.

Day 5 (Hoi An): My Son Temples + Craft Villages + World Class Show
Brief itinerary: Hoi An → My Son Sanctuary → Hoi An’s craft villages → Hoi An Memories Show or Teh Dar Show
In the morning, have breakfast at hotel, and then go to My Son Sanctuary (approx 1 hour away). It opens from 6:00.
Do not miss the traditional art show at the public stage near B-C-D temples.
From April to August, go early as possible to avoid the heat.
Go back to Hoi An for lunch at Bong Hong Trang Restaurant (533 Hai Ba Trung). Here, must try dishes are white rose dumplings and local style fried wonton.
Go back to hotel for taking a rest.
In the afternoon, visit craft villages of Hoi An by bicycle. The first village is Thanh Ha Pottery Village. Here, visitors can walk around, watch local life and pottery production, and try hands at making a pottery at local artisan house. Thanh Ha Terracotta Park & Museum is another highlight to not miss.
The second village is Kim Bong Carpentry Village. Here, visitors know better about local traditional crafts of woodworking, boat building, mat weaving, rice paper and noodle making,… as well as see fine art wooden sculptures. See a local family and try hands at carving an object.
Go back to Hoi An center by an commuter iron bridge cross Thu Bon River.

In the evening, there are 2 options:
Option 1 (Wednesday-Monday): Hoi An Memories Show
take a boat trip to Hoi An Memories Show (drop off at Moonlight Bridge). Walk cross this bridge to enter Hoi An Impresison Theme Park (Memories Land).
From 5:00 to 7:00 PM, go around, watch minishows and take photos. Go to the theater at 7:30 PM when it’s just opened and then select a seat in the middle for a good view. The show is from 8 to 9 PM every night except Tuesday.
Option 2 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday-Sunday): Teh Dar Show
This show is from 18:00 to 19:00. Because the theater lies inside the Old Town, so easily walk there. Visitors are advised to come 30 mins earlier to enjoy the atmosphere and welcome drink. After show, have dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Day 6 (Hoi An): DAD Airport
Relaxing day, check out hotel, and go to the airport to fly home (or next destination). We recommend booking a flight in the afternoon or evening.
Da Nang Hoi An Hue Itinerary for 7 Days
If have up to 7 days in Da Nang, Hoi An and Hue, visitors should stay overnight in each city to have many time to explore.
Day 1 (Da Nang): Da Nang Famous Mountains + Downtown

Visit Thuy Tien Lake and Abandoned Water Park if do not stay long in the tombs OR just like seeing one tomb.
Have lunch at a restaurant in Hue (if possible, choose a place near the tombs).
Go back to Da Nang, check in hotel, and relax.
In the afternoon and evening, there are 2 options:
Option 1: swimming, relaxing, sun bathing, water sports,…. at My Khe Beach or My An Beach or Phuoc My Beach (best beaches). There are many restaurants, bars and spas to go in nearby An Thuong area. We also highly recommend a seafood feast this night. You can go to Michelin-selected restaurants or top-rated local eateries.
Option 2: shopping, dining at markets and malls in Da Nang downtown (Han Market, Con Market, Vincom Plaza, Aeon Mall,…). Later, come to Helio Night Market.
Day 4 (Da Nang): Ba Na Hills + Golden Hands Bridge

Climb to Nui Chua Peak (King Peak) at elevation of 1.500m to see temples and a full view of French Village. There are many stairs to this summit.
Go to Lunar Castle by funicular train if it’s still early to go back.
Take cable car down from Ba Na Hills at L’Indochine Station or Morin Station or Taiga Station.

In the evening, there are 2 options:
Option 1 (Monday-Thursday): Cruise ride on Han River for 1 hour, have dinner at Madam Lan (Michelin-selected), nightlife and take the view from Novotel hotel’s rooftop bar.
Option 2 (Friday-Sunday): Dragon Bridge and nearby Son Tra Night Market. The fire and water show takes place at 21:00.
Day 5 (Hoi An): Old Town + Countryside
Brief itinerary: Da Nang → Hoi An (hotel) → Hoi An Old Town (walking) → Hoi An’s countryside (cycling) → Nguyen Hoang Night Market
Have breakfast at hotel, check out and go to Hoi An (approx 30-40 mins drive). You can book a hotel near Old Town or An Bang Beach or near rice fields.
In the morning, have a walking heritage tour in Hoi An Old Town. Buy a UNESCO entrance ticket (120.000 VND) and see 5 historical sites like Japanese Bridge, Tan Ky House or Phung Hung House, Fujian Assembly Hall or Cantonese Assembly Hall, Museum of Folklore, Hoi An Central Market. Do not miss the show at Hoi An Traditional Art Performance House (66 Bach Dang).
Hoi An Old Town is most pedestrian friendly between 9:00 and 11:30 because of no car, motorbike.
Have lunch with famous food like Cao Lau, Banh Mi (Banh Mi Phuong or Madam Khanh). After that, go to a coffee shop.
Visit a favorite custom-made tailor shop for suit making before heritage walk, if have a plan before.
In the afternoon, go on a cycling tour through Hoi An’s countryside. There are 2 options:
Option 1 (Tra Que and Cam Thanh villages): rice fields, vegetable growing village, coconut village, water buffalo riding, crab fishing, basket boat tour in mangrove forest, duck farm,… If need a guided tour, see itinerary in Hoi An countryside bike tour
Option 2 (Cam Kim Island): rice fields, woodworking, rice paper making, noodle making, mat weaving, rice wine making,… If need a guided tour, see itinerary in Cam Kim bike tour
If can’t cycle or it’s just too hot, do this countryside tour by car/van or electric buggy.
In the first night, of course, Nguyen Hoang Street Night Market is the must see. If no street food, have dinner at one of Morning Glory restaurants (Morning Glory Original, Morning Glory Signature, Vy Market, Cargo Club,…)
At intersection of Bach Dang and Nguyen Thai Hoc roads, from 19:00/19:30, visitors can play traditional game Bai Choi with locals. This stage is more active in weekends or public holidays.
Monthly Hoi An Lantern Festival is celebrated in full moon night (14th day of the lunar month). Make sure that one of your nights in Hoi An falls in this date. See 2026 schedule here
Day 6 (Hoi An): My Son Temples + Craft Villages + World Class Show
Brief itinerary: Hoi An → My Son Sanctuary → Hoi An’s craft villages → Hoi An Memories Show or Teh Dar Show
In the morning, have breakfast at hotel, and then go to My Son Sanctuary (approx 1 hour away). It opens from 6:00.
Do not miss the traditional art show at the public stage near B-C-D temples.
From April to August, go early as possible to avoid the heat.
Go back to Hoi An for lunch at Bong Hong Trang Restaurant (533 Hai Ba Trung). Here, must try dishes are white rose dumplings and local style fried wonton.
Go back to hotel for taking a rest.
In the afternoon, visit craft villages of Hoi An by bicycle. The first village is Thanh Ha Pottery Village. Here, visitors can walk around, watch local life and pottery production, and try hands at making a pottery at local artisan house. Thanh Ha Terracotta Park & Museum is another highlight to not miss.
The second village is Kim Bong Carpentry Village. Here, visitors know better about local traditional crafts of woodworking, boat building, mat weaving, rice paper and noodle making,… as well as see fine art wooden sculptures. See a local family and try hands at carving an object.
Go back to Hoi An center by an commuter iron bridge cross Thu Bon River.

In the evening, there are 2 options:
Option 1 (Wednesday-Monday): Hoi An Memories Show
take a boat trip to Hoi An Memories Show (drop off at Moonlight Bridge). Walk cross this bridge to enter Hoi An Impresison Theme Park (Memories Land).
From 5:00 to 7:00 PM, go around, watch minishows and take photos. Go to the theater at 7:30 PM when it’s just opened and then select a seat in the middle for a good view. The show is from 8 to 9 PM every night except Tuesday.
Option 2 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday-Sunday): Teh Dar Show
This show is from 18:00 to 19:00. Because the theater lies inside the Old Town, so easily walk there. Visitors are advised to come 30 mins earlier to enjoy the atmosphere and welcome drink. After show, have dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Day 7 (Hoi An): DAD Airport
Relaxing day, check out hotel, and go to the airport to fly home (or next destination). We recommend booking a flight in the afternoon or evening.
