This half-day tour shows you two most famous craft villages in Hoi An Vietnam. In Thanh Ha Pottery Village, walk through small alleyways to watch artisans at work and visit a local family with many generations making pottery. Try your hand at making pottery with a potter’s wheel. On the other side of Thu Bon River, Kim Bong Carpentry Village first, where local people have kept boat building and woodworking traditions for over 500 years. Here, watch carpenters at work, visit the workshops of famous artisans to see their sophisticated sculptures, and try hand at woodworking. Next, cycle through small and peaceful villages to see local families to learn how to make rice papers, rice noodles and sedge mats. Join to escape the hustle and bustle in the city.

Thanh Ha Pottery Village

Visit the last surviving pottery making village in the area. Local people in this village has been made pottery from the 15th century. Here, visitors will walk along narrow and peaceful alleys to watch the artisans working at their houses or kilns, try the hand at making a pottery with their instruction, see the products they made and buy something for souvenir. See more details

Kim Bong Carpentry Village

After riding through rural villages, visitors will visit Kim Bong Carpentry Village, one of the living craft villages in Hoi An. On the bank of the Thu Bon River, local people here have kept the tradition of boat building and woodcarving for around 500 years. Our guide will show you around the village to watch carpenters at work and galleries of the most skilled artisans to see the sophisticated things they made. Near the waterside, watch local artisans working at a shipyard. See more details

In this village, you will have the chance to try hand at wood carving in a local workshop.

Rice paper making & try 'banh dap'

Visit a local family whose members have made rice papers and rice noodles for some decades. One of them will show you the process to make the rice paper by rice milk and then you have the chance to try your hand at making your own rice papers. After that, the artisan shows the way to make the noodles from fresh rice papers and how to make banh dap (‘smashing rice papers’), a specialty food in Hoi An. Sedge mat weaving

Continue riding through rural villages and visit a local family making traditional sedge mats. This craft is also one of the main local industries in Cam Kim Island, Hoi An.
