Best Time to Year for Snorkeling in Da Nang
The premier window for snorkeling in Da Nang spans from April to August, coinciding with Central Vietnam’s peak dry season. During these months, the region experiences optimal weather and oceanic conditions that guarantee an exceptional underwater experience.
Why this window beats the rest:
– Maximum visibility: From June through August, the water achieves its highest clarity. With minimal cloud cover, intense overhead sunlight penetrates the shallow reefs, brilliantly illuminating the coral structures and bringing out the true colors of the marine life.
– Placid, safe seas: The ocean during this period behaves like a massive swimming pool. Gentle waves mean negligible seabed disturbance, preventing sand from clouding your view. It also ensures a smooth, nausea-free boat ride to offshore sites.
– Warm water Temperatures: Sea temperatures hover comfortably around 28°C to 30°C (82°F–86°F), allowing you to stay in the water for extended periods without getting chilled.

– Fact:
Tucked away at the rugged foot of the Hai Van Pass, Son Cha Island—affectionately known by locals as Hon Chao or Pearl Island—presents a beautifully raw, untamed escape. Resembling an upside-down pan floating in the sea, this small, uninhabited island serves as a hidden paradise for adventurers looking to escape mainstream tourist crowds. Surrounded by dramatic, overlapping rock formations and striking sapphire waters, Son Cha features a thriving, protected marine ecosystem boasting over 140 species of coral. It provides an exceptional, off-the-beaten-path setting for a peaceful day of wilderness exploration, coastal fishing, and pristine snorkeling.
The tour to Son Cha Island will depart from Lang Co town. It includes sightseeing and snorkeling at this island, and then swimming, camping at Bai Chuoi (Banana Beach). Due to national security reason, it’s closed several years ago.
There is a military station on Son Cha Island, therefore visitors want to hire a private fishing boat to access the area for seeing coral reefs, won’t be checked carefully and asked to leave right after then.
