Hoi An Ancient Town

Hoi An Ancient Town is an exceptionally well-preserved South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. In 1999, it’s honored to be a world heritage site. This town is famous for pretty narrow streets with yellow-wall houses, colorful lanterns and many tailor shops. It’s also one of the most photographed places in Vietnam. See more details

In Hoi An, you will see these places:

– Japanese Covered Bridge: the symbol of Hoi An. This wooden building was constructed in the 17th century by Japanese people. Today, it’s also called ‘Pagoda bridge’ because it has a small temple where the locals worship a Taoist god. See more details

Phung Hung Old House: Visit one of the best preserved old wooden house in Hoi An. Different from other heritage houses, this building has the influence from Japanese traditional architecture because it’s located in the former Japanese town. Its interior is full of sophisticated furniture and decorative objects. See more details

– Cantonese Assembly Hall: one of the largest Chinese assembly halls in Hoi An. It hosts communal activities and special occasions of Cantonese Chinese congregation as well as worship of Quan Cong, a Chinese military general and god. See more details

– Museum of Sa Huynh Culture: showcases the unique, 2,000-year-old pre-historic Sa Huynh civilization that flourished along Vietnam’s central coast, featuring an extensive collection of funerary jars, iron tools, and intricate jewelry. See more details

– Traditional handicrafts workshop: meet a local woman wearing traditional ao dai dress and listen to her introduction about Hoi An’s local handicrafts (silk making, lantern making, garment making, silk painting making, etc)

Hoi An Night Market: Visit the biggest night market in Hoi An. Here, local people sell a variety of street food and souvenirs, making it a paradise for food lovers and shopaholics. At lantern shops, have an opportunity to take beautiful and impressive photos. Because this is the busiest place in town, the atmosphere is vibrant and lively. See more details

An Hoi Bridge (Bridge of Light): offers a spectacular panorama of the Hoai River glowing with hundreds of floating, colorful paper lanterns, with the ancient town side illuminated by the golden and multicolored light of countless silk lanterns hanging from the historic buildings and reflected on the water.
