Phong Nha to Ba Na Hills by Flight
Ba Na Hills is located in Da Nang city, the capital of central Vietnam. From the city center, the distance to Ba Na Hills is 25-30 kilometers. Golden Hands Bridge, one of the most well-known tourist bridges across the globe, lies within this theme park. Here, cable car lines are amongst the longest and the steepest ones worldwide. Between Hanoi and Da Nang, Phong Nha (or Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park) is renown for hundreds of caves and underground rivers, including the largest cave in the world. Nestled in dense forests, visitors can visit Phong Nha Cave by boat, the Paradise Cave or discover Ho Chi Minh trail.
Today, one of the fastest way to get from Phong Nha to Ba Na Hills is taking a flight to Da Nang and then have a private transfer from Da Nang’s airport. Currently, there is no direct flight from Phong Nha to Da Nang. The nearest airport to Phong Nha is the Dong Hoi Airport (code: VDH) in Dong Hoi city, the capital of the province. From here, visitors can book a flight to Da Nang with stop at Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
At the Dong Hoi Airport, there is one terminal only for both domestic and international flights. The flight from Dong Hoi to Ho Chi Minh City is inside Vietnam, so visitors need to be here at least 2 hours before departure. From Phong Nha, the distance to the airport is around 40 kilometers. If going by car/bus, it takes passengers 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic and weather.
In Da Nang, flights from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City will land at the Da Nang International Airport (code: DAD), particularly Terminal 1. From this terminal, visitors need 1-hour drive by car/bus to reach Ba Na Hills, depending on traffic and weather (the distance is about 25 kilometers). Phong Nha to Ba Na Hills by Train
Visitors can take train from Phong Nha to Da Nang city, and then have a private transfer to Ba Na Hills. Duration of the fastest train ride from Dong Hoi Railway Station, the closest railway station from Phong Nha, is 5-6 hours. We recommend buying tickets in an overnight train, in order to arrive Da Nang in the morning and then have time enough for visiting Ba Na Hills.

Near Phong Nha, visitors need to go to Dong Hoi Railway Station on Thuan Ly Street, within the city center. To get there, taking a taxi/car/bus or public transport,…are possible. Passengers are advised to be here at least 1 hour before departure.
In Da Nang, passengers will get off at the Da Nang Railway Station on Hai Phong Street within its downtown. From here, the distance to Ba Na Hills is around 25 kilometers. Therefore, 1-hour drive by car/bus is needed to reach it, depending on traffic and weather. No public transportation is available now from this railway station to the hills. Phong Nha to Ba Na Hills by Bus
The distance from Phong Nha to Da Nang is nearly 310 kilometers. If going by bus, it takes visitors 5-7 hours. To have time enough to reach and visit Ba Na Hills, we recommend getting an overnight bus or sleeper bus.
In Da Nang, local buses will drop off passengers at the Da Nang Central Bus Station on Ton Duc Thang Street (near Nga Ba Hue crossroad). The distance from this station to Ba Na Hills is 22 kilometers. To reach Ba Na Hills, should book a private transfer in advance to have a smooth trip (rather than taking a random taxi or driver). If have time, visitors can stay overnight somewhere between Phong Nha and Da Nang, like Hue. From Hue, it’s possible to reach Ba Na Hills without coming to Da Nang or Hoi An.
