Things to See & Do in Jurassic Park of Ba Na Hills
Jurassic Park is a quite small indoor attraction in Ba Na Hills. It brings the visitor back to the era of dinosaurs, 150 millions of years ago. At that time, our planet was dominated by conifers, cycadophytes, ginkgoes, ferns and large arborescent horsetails that are so huge. On the land, dominating animals are dinosaurs and flying pterosaurs (which became extinct after a massive asteroid slammed into the Earth 65 million years ago). Birds made their first appearance and early mammals also presented. All of these typical features are seen in this place. Plus the adventurous cinematic music, visitors have an interesting time at the Jurassic Park Ba Na Hills. At its entrance, it’s possible to see dinosaur babies in the egg or fossils (all fake), giving a good first impression.
Here are dinosaurs which visitors will see, photograph and learn about:
– Titanosauria: lived between 145 and 66 million years ago, one of the largest land animals that ever existed on the planet, 37 meters long and 69 tonnes weigh.
– Brachiosaurus (‘arm lizard’): found in the North American continent, 12 meters tall on average, 27,000-35,000 kilometers weigh, a huge plant eater with a long neck, long tail and four legs.
– Allosaurus (‘lion of the jurrasic’): 8,5 meters tall on average, over 1,500 kilograms weigh, meat-eating dinosaur, two short front legs.
– Stegosaurus: 4,3 meters tall on average, over 3,000 kilograms weigh, four legged, characterized by kite-shaped upright plates along the back and spike of the tail, eating plants.
– Velociraptor: a genus of small dromaeosaurid dinosaurs, lived in the Asian continent between 75 and 71 million years ago, and ate meat.
– Pterosaurs (‘flying dinosaurs’): lived between 228 and 66 million years ago, earliest vertebrates known to have evolved powered flight, not dinosaurs, eat meat.
Beside that, visitors also have the chance to see mammoth (an extinct group of elephant family, 3,5 meters tall on average, 4 to 6 tons weigh), long teeth tiger (extinct), and a model of rock shelter where early humans lived. Fossils of early humans discovered date from 6 to 2 million years ago.
In any animal, it’s possible to see an information board available in both English and Vietnamese languages. There is a button to press, in order to hear the sound from dinosaurs or see their movements. Do not touch on them please!
Additionally, Jurassic Park is within the Fantasy Park, the oldest and the largest indoor amusement park in Vietnam. Here, visitors will find nearly 100 entertaining games and rides that are free of charge as well as a wax figure museum (housing a collection of almost 100 statues of globally famous people, an extra fee of 100,000 VND). This park has 3 levels (the highest level has the Jurassic Park). If want to ride on the alpine coasters, there are three options here. The fee to play is 100,000 VND each person. How to Get to Jurassic Park in Ba Na Hills
The Jurassic Park lies on Level 1 of the Fantasy Park is in Ba Na Hills (near the entrance of this amusement park). To get to Ba Na Hills, it’s needed to ride the cable car, after coming to the park.
The quickest cable car to the Fantasy Park is the one boarding at Thac Toc Tien station, and landing at L’Indochine station. After 15-17 mins traveling by cable car, visitors will need to go outside and find the staircase leading down to the main entrance of the park, to the left hand side. Ask any staff there to find the right directions faster.
If getting to Fantasy Park by the cable car between the Bordeaux station and the Louvre station. After leaving the car, visitors need to go outside and then find elevators or stairs near the golden globe ‘sun world’ to see the theme park’s main entrance. The elevators are near the Thai Market restaurant.
If reaching the mountain by cable car from Champa station, visitors will land at Taiga station. From here, it’s needed to walk through the French Village to see the golden globe ‘sun world’ (near the church), and then find the staircase leading down to the theme park’s main entrance.
To go to the park (Ba Na Hills) from Da Nang, visitors can take a ride by car/taxi/van/bus or drive the motorbike (not recommended for those who have luggage). For a better price, we advise booking a roundtrip transfer to Ba Na Hills, instead of one way. The price is from 700,000 VND, and the driver can wait for some hours. The best route for riding the motorbike is Ba Na – Suoi Mo road, a wide and low traffic road. From the hotel, visitors just need to find the shortest/quickest way to see it and then follow it until the security man at Ba Na Hills tells them to stop. Parking here is free.
From Hoi An, the best ways to reach Ba Na Hills (including the French Village) is by car and motorbike. A drive by car is about 1 hour long, costing from 1,000,000 VND for a roundtrip. Driving the motorbike isn’t too difficult but it takes a bit to find the right directions on the way. Firstly, visitors need to follow the coastal road Lac Long Quan St until see Nam Ky Khoi Nghia St (in Da Nang), and then turn left, follow that road until can’t go anymore (due to construction). After that, follow QL1A highway and then Ba Na Suoi Mo road to the end.
