My Khe Beach to Ba Na Hills by Motorbike

Going to Ba Na Hills by motorbike/scooter is a popular choice for local Vietnamese visitors, young tourists, and those who travel with a budget. Because the distance is 27-30 minutes, it takes approximately 1-1.5 hours, depending on the hotel location.

Generally, riding the motorbike in Da Nang is easier and not stressful like in big cities Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Since April 2015, when Ba Na – Suoi Mo Road was opened, the drive to Ba Na Hills has been smoother, quicker, and safer. This road has up to 6 lanes, is well-signed and lighted during the night.

Requirements

Due to many accidents, Da Nang polices will check licenses from foreign tourists along Ba Na – Suoi Mo Road, the major road to Ba Na Hills. Legally there’re 2 licenses needed to have: the original driver license from home country and IDP (international driving permit). Put them in your wallet before go!

Rental price is 200.000-300.000 VND per day (excluding fuel). At motorbike shops or hotels, people don’t check licenses, but it doesn’t mean that you don’t need to have them. 

For safety reason, when don’t hire a motorbike at hotel, local shops will require a passport or cash deposit. So we think just ask the hotel for rental to save time.

Vietnam follows a right-hand traffic system, so if drive on the left in your country, please consider carefully about traveling by motorbike.

The rider needs to be over 18 years old. All passengers must wear a safety helmet in Vietnam.

The fast motorbike route from My Khe Beach to Ba Na Hills

The quickest route is a combination of Dien Bien Phu Street + Ba Na Suoi Mo Street. Here are instructions:

– From My Khe Beach, follow one of these roads: Pham Van Dong, Vo Van Kiet, Nguyen Van Thoai. 

– Cross the Han River by Han River Bridge, Dragon Bridge, or Tran Thi Ly Bridge respectively. 

– After crossing the bridge, keep going straight.

– Turn right at intersection with Nguyen Huu Tho Street.

– Go straight again to see intersection with Dien Bien Phu Street (near March 29 Park, Aeon Mall) and then turn left.

– Keep going straight, ride across Nga Ba Hue Overpass on the highest level.

– Follow Ton Duc Thang Street until see intersection of Hoang Van Thai Street on the left.

– Follow Hoang Van Thai Street and then Ba Na – Suoi Mo Street.

– At roundabout near entrance of Ba Na Hills Golf Course, keep riding on the right. Do not turn into smaller road if don’t play golf.

– Go slower because the road now is smaller and slopy. It’ll be very slippery on a rainy day.

– Keep going and follow the instruction of security man to find the motorbike parking lot.

– At parking lot, you receive a card and remember to keep it very carefully in your wallet or bag. It’s used for verification later when you get back. If loose it, have to prove the ownership and pay the fine.

– Walk back to the main road, follow the covered path downhill to main entrance of Ba Na Hills.

The most scenic motorbike route from My Khe Beach to Ba Na Hills

The nicest route today from My Khe Beach, is a combination of Thang Long Street and Ba Na – Suoi Mo Street. While Thang Long Road runs along the bank of Cam Le River and ‘avoids’ the crowded districts, Ba Na – Suoi Mo Street crosses peaceful green rural farmlands, hillls and forests. Here are instructions:

– Cross Han River and then find the shortest way to Thang Long Street.

– Follow Thang Long Street (southwards) until Tuy Loan.

– Follow DH2 Road (new road) at Tuy Loan and follow it until intersection of Ba Na – Suoi Mo Street.

– Turn left, go straight ahead until see the sign at entrance of Ba Na Hills Golf Course.

– Keep riding on the right (for 10-15 minutes) to find the parking lot.
