Pros & Cons of Public Bus to Ba Na Hills
Here are pros and cons of the public bus from Da Nang city to Ba Na Hills (Bus 03):
Pros:
– The cheapest transport to Ba Na Hills from Da Nang city. So it’s good for solo travelers, local visitors or citizens, students, visitors who travel with a tight budget,…
– Instead of riding the motorbike, getting on Bus 03 is much safer and comfortable (it’s air-conditioned!).
– Bus 03 doesn’t require paying in advance or a reservation. However, it’s needed to pay by cash.
– Instead of being shielded from the city in a private car, traveling by bus puts you right alongside local commuters, students, and daily workers.
Cons:
– Although it’s cheap, Bus 03 only picks up near the airport and places on the way to Ba Na Hills. To reach these pick-up points, visitors need another vehicle from the hotel (like taxi, private car/bike,…). The distance from popular tourist areas (Hai Chau, My Khe, An Thuong,…) is 3-5 kilometers. For that reason, the cost to reach Ba Na Hills can be higher than expected. Our recommendation is checking your hotel location/address and how much to go from there to one of bus stations first, and then compare with other kind of transports for Ba Na Hills (like shared van/bus, private car,…).
– Bus 03 is not really cheap if go with a group/family. Car/van cost in Da Nang is not high.
– Departure terminal is introduced to be in the Da Nang Airport, but to find it, from the airport’s terminals, visitors need to walk there (service taxi will refuse).
– The first bus leaving Da Nang is 7:00 AM. If take it, you will arrive Ba Na Hills at 8:00 AM. During high tourist season, this arrival time is not early enough to avoid the crowds. Those who take a private transport, will come earlier because they can request pick up time to suit their plan.
– Families with kid or senior that require a flexible and comfortable travel plan, should not choose Bus 03 because it’s not convenient.
– If the bus is full, there is no seat for you and other friends/family member. With other kind of transport, it’s possible to reserve seats upfront and 100% sure we have a seat on the day.
– Bus 03 doesn’t pick up in Hoi An. So visitors stay in Hoi An can not use it and need to book a private transport then. For us, those who stay in Non Nuoc Beach, Son Tra Peninsula,… shouldn’t choose Bus 03 as it takes too much time.
Inclusions:
– If not interested in theme park or European-style buildings, getting the public bus to Ba Na Hills is a good choice for budget.
– If want a flexible and comfortable traveling day at Ba Na Hills, getting the public bus is quite inconvenient and may be more expensive than some other options.
