Located on the south bank of Thu Bon River, in Cam Kim Island, Kim Bong Carpentry Village is known for its tradition of woodworking and boat building that has started from the 16th century. While Hoi An was a bustling trading port, carpenters here made the finest wooden constructions (such as Japanese Bridge or old houses) as well as produced trading boats. Today, visitors still see generations of artisans working here and products that they carved, especially at workshops of the most famous artisan, such as Huynh Ri. Tra Que Vegetable Village

Hoi An Silk Village

Phuoc Kieu Bronze Casting Village was established in 17th century after Nguyen lords chose the area to be capital of Quang Nam province. At that time, it’s also on the most important north-south trail (road) of the country and near the largest river of the region. So, its location is very convenient for trading activities. Until now, this village is still famous for production of bronze worshipping objects (urns, candelabra/candle holder, statues, etc) and gongs (an instrument used by tribal communities in Vietnam’s southern highlands during ceremonies and festivals). In the past, the most skillful artisans here came to Hue capital city to make different stuff by bronze for the emperor and then received his prime title for an excellent job. Cam Ha Kumquat Village

Location/address: Cam Ha commune, Hoi An city, Quang Nam province, Vietnam

Northwest of Hoi An Old Town, Cam Ha Kumquat Village is known for its tradition of kumquat cultivation that has started from many centuries ago. Nowadays, the total area of kumquat trees is up to 65 hectares. During the year, local people grow and collect the fruits to sell in the market (kumquat will be used to make sauces, an ingredient to add into noodle soups, etc). Before the Vietnamese lunar new year or Tet, ornamental kumquat trees are shown around the village or along main roads of Hoi An, making this festival lively and atmospheric. Local people will come to see, photograph and buy them to decorate their house. In 2024, craft of kumquat cultivation is considered to be a traditional craft of the province. To get to Cam Ha Kumquat Village, visitors can go by car/bus, motorbike, bicycle and walking.
