History & Architecture of Eclipse Plaza in Ba Na Hills

The Eclipse Plaza (Quang Truong Nhat Thuc) was inaugurated in July 2022, to celebrate the summer festival at Ba Na Hills or the peak domestic season in the city. Like its name, this mythical construction lies between the ‘Kingdom of Sun’ and ‘Kingdom of Moon’. The Sun Kingdom is the area which includes the French Village, the Helios Waterfall, Saint Denis Church, the Forever Square, the Noel Plaza, Fantasy Park, and so on. The Moon Kingdom is the area which includes the Lunar Castle and nearby buildings. There is a funicular (mountain climbing train) connecting these kingdoms. A ride on it is 15 minutes long, allowing passengers to see beautiful natural landscapes from one side and huge, incredible castles on the other side. Its stations are the Dragon Den Station inside the Lunar/Moon Castle and the Mystery Well Station inside the French Village. See more information & details

In the centre of the Eclipse Plaza, there is a magnificent and photogenic blue conical glass-and-metal tower. This building recalls the world-famous Louvre Pyramid in Paris, the capital of France in Europe. Its shape let visitors think of a Vietnamese conical leaf hat or non la, one of the most typical and popular images about Vietnam. Below it, there is a dancing floor where French artists dance and play violin or piano in the noon. If you have lunch buffet at Four Seasons Restaurant, visitors can watch live performances here before/after eating.

On both sides of the Glass Cone, there are two majestic colonnades comprising 60 stone columns with a height from 4 to 7,5 meters, reminder of St Peter’s Square at the Vatican Holy See in Europe. They support a roof decorated by lots of artist statues in an orchestra, angels, gods and goddesses. Its ceiling boasts colorful and fascinating frescoes which portray sun, moon, stars, clouds and other things in the heavens/universe. These colonnades provide many photo opportunities.

Along the walking path from the Eclipse Plaza to the Lunar Castle, on the right side, there is a row of 20 stone statues of the most important Greek mythical goddesses. There are Hestia (Goddess of heart, home and fire), Hebe (Goddess of eternal youth and old age, prime of life and forgiveness), Artemis (Goddess of chastity, hunting and the noon), and so on. On the other side, visitors will see small flower gardens, fiberglass hands and especially, a huge pink castle. No doubt, this pathway provides many photo opportunities.

To the left of the Glass Cone, visitors will find the Lava Road, a zigzag walkway that symbolizes the lava flowing down from the volcano. Along this road, there are lovely flower gardens, artificial ‘volcanoes’ with big statues portraying male and female faces kissing or reaching hands. These sculptures are seen from the cable car between the Bordeaux Station and the Louvre Station. From here, it’s possible to find the way to the Lunar Castle. Why not try?

On the Eclipse Plaza, there are live performances and grand shows occurring throughout the day. Here, visitors can find food and beverages and then have a seat to watch them.
