History & Architecture of Chien Dan Cham Towers

Constructed from late 10th century to early 11st century, Chien Dan Towers have an architectural style transitioning from My Son A1 style to Binh Dinh style in Cham arts. It’s a group of 3 towers, including the central one used to worship Shiva god. At two other buildings, Cham people worship Brahma god and Vishnu god. Here are more information about these Hindu deities:

• Brahma, the Creator: He is the first god in the triad, responsible for bringing the universe and all living beings into existence. Brahma is often depicted with four heads, representing the four Vedas (ancient Hindu scriptures). However, in modern Hinduism, Brahma is less widely worshipped than the other two deities.

• Vishnu, the Preserver: He is the central and most important god of the Trimurti. Vishnu’s role is to maintain cosmic order, protect the universe from harm, and preserve righteousness (dharma). He is known for his various incarnations or avatars, such as Rama and Krishna, who descend to Earth to restore balance.

• Shiva, the Destroyer: Shiva’s role is to destroy ignorance, evil, and the universe at the end of a cosmic cycle to make way for new creation and transformation. He is often depicted with a third eye, representing his spiritual wisdom, and a trident (Trishula).

In 1989, Chien Dan Towers were recognized by Vietnam government as national heritage.
