Things to See & Do in Ba Na Hills Brewery

In the French Village, next to the Helios Waterfall, Ba Na Hills Brewery was opened in August 2024. It has 6 levels (called L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 and L6), including three lowest levels used for craft beer production and three highest levels used as restaurant-bars (Ba Na 1901 Restaurant). Its architecture is a combination of western styles and Champa decorative arts (the area belonged to Champa kingdom in the past, an Indianized state of Cham people).

In low levels of Ba Na Hills Brewery, visitors will have to see/photograph huge yellow bronze equipment and learn about production of craft beers. In particular, L1 has installation of barley grinding and packaging systems. L2 is not open to visitors. L3 houses fermentation tanks, beer cooking pots,…imported from Germany with consultation of an internationally reputable brewery manufacturer which has customers in over 60 countries. To go from one level to the other(s), escalators are available.

If lucky, visitors can have the chance to meet international brewmasters who introduce all steps, techniques required and stories about different type of beers they make. They strictly follow all standards to bring visitors the highest quality drinks.

At the moment, there are 3 craft beers produced in Ba Na Hills Brewery by ingredients taken from USA and Germany and authentic German techniques. They have different flavours and are named after famous places in the mountain: Golden Hands Bridge, Lunar Castle and Atlas Statue. So, each one brings the drinker a new experience. These beers are sold by can too, and visitors can buy and drink later when back to the city or give to friends as a gift.

In the upper levels of Ba Na Hills Brewery, Ba Na 1901 Restaurant, food is also served. Here, it’s possible to have grilled homemade beef sausage (produced in Ba Na Hills by premium beef), sets of cold cuts including ham, cheese and fresh fruits, toasts, fish and cheap, grilled pork/beef/chicken skewers, fried chicken, etc. Name of the restaurant honors the year 1901 when Ba Na Hills was discovered by French people. After that, they established a hill station here to avoid the heat and let history of Ba Na Hills begin.

At Ba Na Hills Brewery, the international beer festival occurs all year around. In which, visitors have free cups of craft beer made right in the brew house and watch vibrant performances from international dancers, musicians, singers.

How to Get to Ba Na Hills Brewery

Ba Na Hills Brewery is in the French Village complex of Ba Na Hills, An Son village, Hoa Ninh commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang Vietnam. It’s next to Helios Waterfall.

The shortest cable car to the French Village is the line from Thac Toc Tien Station to L’Indochine Station. It’s about 5 km long (ever held the guinness record ‘the longest cable car in the world’). Its operation changes daily, so visitors just can check it on the day they come. Hotel guests always need to come to Thac Toc Tien Station for check in. This station is up the hill, and accessible by escalators and walking.

To go to the park (Ba Na Hills) from Da Nang, visitors can take a ride by car/taxi/van/bus or drive the motorbike (not recommended for those who have luggage). For a better price, we advise booking a roundtrip transfer to Ba Na Hills, instead of one way. The best route for riding the motorbike is Ba Na – Suoi Mo road, a wide and low traffic road. From the hotel, visitors just need to find the shortest/quickest way to see it and then follow it until the security man at Ba Na Hills tells them to stop. Parking here is free.

From Hoi An, the best ways to reach Ba Na Hills (including the French Village) is by car and motorbike. It takes about 1 hour to get there by car. Driving the motorbike isn’t too difficult but it takes a bit of time to find the right directions on the way. Firstly, visitors need to follow the coastal road Lac Long Quan St until see Nam Ky Khoi Nghia St (in Da Nang), and then turn left, follow that road until can’t go anymore (due to construction). After that, follow QL1A highway and then Ba Na Suoi Mo road to the end.
