What to Expect in Kon Pring Village (Mang Den)?
Not too far away from Mang Den town center, Kon Pring Village has 67 households and 250 people. There are Monom families who have spoken Monom language, an Austro-Asiatic language in Vietnam. Monom people are classified into Sedang ethnic group (which has a population of 212,200 people, occupying 0,22% of Vietnam’s population). Kon Pring means ‘village of pring tree’ (pring tree is Scaphium macropodum in Sedang language).
In the center of Kon Pring Village, it’s a nha rong (A-shaped thatched communal house of Sedang people), the tallest building. This is the gathering place for all inhabitants during special events, meetings, ceremonies and festivals. Around the village, visitors also see traditional houses of Sedang peole, rice fields, corn fields, pine hills, rivers,… as well as daily life of the community.
