Quickest Way to Go from Sapa to Ba Na Hills

Ba Na Hills is located in Da Nang city, the capital of central Vietnam. From the city center, the distance to Ba Na Hills is 25-30 kilometers. Golden Hands Bridge, one of the most well-known tourist bridges across the globe, lies within this theme park. Here, cable car lines are amongst the longest and the steepest ones worldwide. Read more information & details

In the northwest region of Vietnam, on the highest mountain range of the Indochina, Sapa is renowned for spectacular landscapes, cool climate, stunning rice terraces, rich and unique local cultures, trekking trails as well as Fansipan cable car, the longest non-stop three-wire cable car in the world. Its nickname is ‘town of midst’.

Today, the fastest way to get from Sapa to Ba Na Hills is taking a direct flight from Hanoi from Da Nang and then have a private transfer from Da Nang’s airport. To reach Hanoi’s airport (Noi Bai International Airport, code: HAN), visitors should take a car/bus via the express way to save time (the ticket price won’t be expensive). The drive will be 4-4,5 hours long without stops en route. Currently, Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, Vietravel Airlines,…all operate a direct flight from Hanoi to Da Nang. Online check in and E-boarding pass are accepted for domestic flights in Vietnam at the Noi Bai International Airport (24 hours to 1 hour before departure).

At the Noi Bai International Airport, there are two terminals: Terminal 1 for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights. The flight from Hanoi to Da Nang is inside Vietnam, so visitors need to be in Terminal 1 at least 2 hours before departure. Its duration is around 1,5 hours.

In Da Nang, flights from Hanoi will land at the Da Nang International Airport (code: DAD), particularly Terminal 1. From this terminal, visitors need 1-hour drive by car/bus to reach Ba Na Hills, depending on traffic and weather (the distance is about 25 kilometers). No public transportation is available now from this airport to the hills. Read more information & details

In the future, visitors can take a direct flight from Sapa to Da Nang. The Sapa Airport is under construction and might be opened in the first quarter of 2027. It’s 70 kilometers away from Sapa town and around 45 kilometers south of Lao Cai city.

If go from Sapa, visitors may NOT have time and energy enough to visit Ba Na Hills. From Sapa to Hanoi airport, need 4-4,5 hours and in the airport, 2 hours is needed. The flight from Hanoi to Da Nang will be 1,5 hours long, and from Da Nang’s airport, the drive to Ba Na Hills is around 1 hour. Therefore, total duration is 8-8,5 hours.

To have time and energy, we recommend staying overnight in Da Nang/Hoi An and visit Ba Na Hills on the next day. If just want to see Golden Hands Bridge and not interested much in the rest of the park, make sure that you come to the bridge before sunset (after flying from Hanoi).
