Best Cycling Route from Hoi An to Tra Que Vegetable Village

Our suggest cycling route from Hoi An center to Tra Que Vegetable Village, is nearly 5 kilometer.

Starting point (Point 1): Crossroad of Hai Ba Trung Street and Hai Thuong Lan Ong Street. 

From here, cycle northwards and long Hai Ba Trung Street (towards An Bang Beach) to see Point 2. It’s possible to see rice fields on both sides, coupled with farmers, water buffalos, storks, lotus ponds, gardens, villages and distant Cham Islands. During the year, there’re 2 rice seasons: January/February to March/April, and June/July to September. That’s why visitors will see different scenes on different months, from flooded fields, green fields to golden fields. Read more information and details about Hoi An’s rice fields

At Point 2, turn right and keep going until see the first crossroad on the left hand side (Point 3). Here, visitors will see many water buffalos that eat near the rice fields or swim in small rivers.

At Point 3, turn left, go straight. In the end, turn right, go straght again, and then turn into the first laneway (on the left hand side).

Following this lane, visitors will see vegetable and herb gardens of Tra Que Village (the Eastern part of the village). Here, it’s easy to meet a local farmer and then learn from him/her about traditional farming method. One of the most funny experience is using the shoulder pole and two buckets to water the veggies. Lots of tourists from tours and cooking classes gather around this area.

Do not miss the Stone well of Tra Que (built by Cham people) and Tomb of Nguyen Dien (a high-ranking mandarin who served under three successive Nguyen Dynasty emperors in the 19th century).

Near vegetable gardens, there are many restaurants, cooking schools, and coffee shops. If feel hungry, just go to one restaurant and try fresh herbs picked right from nearby gardens. 

If come to this area on the 7th day of the 1st lunar month (Vietnamese lunar new year festival), have the chance to observe Cau Bong Festival, the biggest traditional celebration of the year. 

Cycle to Point 5 (crossroad of Hai Ba Trung Street). Here, visitors need to stop and see around carefully before cross the street.

After that, go straight to see the other half of Tra Que Village, and of course, vegetable and herb gardens again.

In the end of the road, turn left, go straight until the end. Turn right when see the big road, go straight to see Point 7. It’s still possible to see water buffalos.

At Point 7, turn right and keep going straigh, cross the rice fields to find Point 8.

At Point 8, turn left and go straight to see Point 9 – the ending point of the route.
