When Was Golden Hands Bridge Built?
Construction began in July 2017. Building a 150-meter-long curved pedestrian bridge at an altitude of 1,400 meters presented major logistical hurdles, requiring materials to be transported up steep mountainous terrain.
The bridge’s most famous feature—the two giant, weathered hands supporting the structure—looks like aged stone but is actually built from skeleton steel frames covered with fiberglass mesh and finished with a faux-moss texture.
The project was completed in just under a year, officially opening to the public in June 2018. It instantly became a global architectural sensation, famous for its illusion of giant hands lifting a golden thread into the sky.

Reasons Why Golden Bridge in Vietnam is Built
To Be A Pedestrian Walkway
Golden Bridge is purposely designed and built to be a pedestrian bridge, which helps visitors to skip steep stairs from the new cable car station (Marseille Station) to must-visit spots in Ba Na Hills (Debay Wine Cellar, Le Jardin d’Amour Gardens, Linh Ung Pagoda, Big Buddha – generally known as the Le Jardin d’Amour area).
Before Golden Bridge built (2018), visitors have only 4 options to see the Le Jardin d’Amour area:
Option 1: take the cable car from Suoi Mo Station (to Ba Na Station), and then walk to D’Amour Station (train station). There are many stairs between these places and it will be crowded during the day. Plus a long wait time, visitors don’t enjoy at all. After taking 2-minute funicular ride up to L’Jardin Station on the hilltop, walk downhill to see the Le Jardin d’Amour area.
Option 2: take the cable car from Toc Tien Station (to L’Indochine Station). From Ba Na Hills’s entrance to this station, there are lots of stairs, even escalators are available to use (but still have many efforts). After cable car landing, walk upstairs to access Morin Station and then table cable car again there to descend the Debay Station. To see Golden Bridge, visitors will go to D’Amour Station and get on a train ride uphill as described above.
Option 3: take the cable car to L’Indochine Station in French Village, and then walk for 10 minutes to Louvre Station. After that, go on a 5-minute cable car ride down to Bordeaux Station, and walk again downhill to see the Le Jardin d’Amour area.
Option 4: drive up to Ba Na Hills by car, and stop at entrance of Linh Ung Pagoda. After that, climb steep stairs to see the Le Jardin d’Amour area.
None of these options is better than taking the cable car to the spot near Golden Bridge and then walking across the bridge.
Without Golden Bridge, visitors need to spend more time, efforts to explore the Le Jardin d’Amour area.

To Be A Tourist Attraction
Golden Bridge is purposely built to be an exceptional tourist attraction, which attracts millions of people to Da Nang and Ba Na Hills.
The wider park Ba Na Hills was constructed and invested in 2009 by Sun Group. Since then, this tourist area has became famous for the longest cable cars in the world, cool weather, fresh air, European style castles,… Yearly, it’s visited by some millions of people, those come from Vietnam and different parts on the planet. In 2018, the Golden Bridge is definitely the most stunning ‘product’ the park introduces. To be honest, Ba Na Hills welcomes more tourists after 2018, including an impressively increasing number of foreigners.

To Be A Scenic Outlook
Golden Bridge is purposely built to be a scenic outlook, on which visitors can enjoy fully the incredibly-beautiful, unbroken view from Ba Na Hills. From the bridge, it’s possible to see striking mountains of Truong Son Range and smaller hills in Da Nang’s outskirts, green and dense forests of Ba Na – Nui Chua nature reserve, winding rivers, blue lakes, vast rice fields, farmlands, beaches, the sea, and the clouds during the wet season or islands on the ocean on clear days. In the sunrise or sunset times, the scenery is more breath-taking. At an height of 1,414 meters above sea level, Golden Bridge simply is the highest observation deck in the region.
While standing on Golden Bridge, visitors can feel fresh and cool breeze blowing from the sea, making it a perfect ‘sky deck’.
Occasionally, it’s possible to see the red shanked douc langurs, one of the rarest primates across the world. They live in surrounding natural forests of Golden Bridge. If have lunck, your walk on the bridge is just amazing.

To Be Next Famous Bridge
During the history, the area has many special bridges already. Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills is absolutely a successful continuation of this reputation.
Before Golden Bridge, Da Nang city where it’s located, is nationally known as the city of bridges when it owns massive bridges cross the Han River in its downtown area. One of these bridges is the Dragon Bridge, the bridge that every traveler wishes to see and have a picture with. It carries the heaviest steel dragon all over the world (9.000 tonnes), and uniquely, breathes fire and water in the weekend nights. Closeby Thuan Phuoc Bridge is the largest bridge in Vietnam cross a river estuary.
Not too far away from Da Nang, there is another world-famous bridge, Japanese Covered Bridge. This wooden bridge was contructed by Japanese traders in the 18th century and still has been the most iconic building of Hoi An, the UNESCO world heritage town. Like Dragon Bridge, nobody misses it. Even more, it’s featured on the banknote 20.000 VND. For sure, any Vietnamese citizens and tourists who come to Vietnamm, use and know the banknote.
