Better to Know about Hon Sup Island in Da Nang
In Vietnamese, Hon Sup means ‘collapsed islet’. This name comes from the unique flat structure, which sits so low that it completely disappears beneath the waves during high tide as if it has sunk into the ocean. The rocky plateau only reveals itself when the water recedes, creating the illusion of an islet that constantly collapses and reappears with the tides.
Hon Sup Island is usually a stop (destination) when visitors go stand-up paddleboarding in Man Thai Beach (or occasionally Tho Quang Beach). The best of the year for this water activity is between March and August, and the best time of the day is from 5 to 8 am when the sea is calmest. On this beach, board rental price is from 150.000 to 300.000 VND for two people. Because the distance from the beach to the island is around 1.2 km, it takes paddleboarders 30-40 minutes. Remember to bring snorkel gear if you want to see the marine life around the rocks.

How to Get to Hon Sup Island in Da Nang
Hon Sup Island is accessible by waterway only because it’s very small rocky island located in the middle of the sea.
There are teo popular ways to reach Hon Sup Island today:
Option 1: Take a boat from the nearby beach like Man Thai Beach or Tho Quang Beach. The ride will be 10-15 minutes. There is no way to book in advance, so visitors need to come to one of the beaches and then ask local fishermen to reach the island.
Option 2: Rent a stand-up paddleboard at Man Thai Beach in the sunrise and then ride it to the island. During sunny months, there are lots of locals and visitors coming to the beach for this water sport.
