Cham Island or Phu Quoc: Which One is Better to Visit?

Cham Island and Phu Quoc are both premier Vietnamese island destinations celebrated for their breathtaking natural beauty and rich marine biodiversity. Both locations serve as protected biosphere reserves, offering travelers pristine waters, vibrant coral reefs, and extensive opportunities for snorkeling, diving, and exploring diverse underwater ecosystems. Furthermore, each island acts as a significant retreat from the mainland, attracting visitors with a mix of lush, forested landscapes and scenic sandy beaches. Whether seeking quiet natural exploration or immersive coastal activities, both islands provide quintessential tropical experiences that highlight the unique charm and ecological importance of Vietnam’s coastal heritage.

However, here are reasons why Cham Island is better to visit than Phu Quoc:

– Visitors can have a day trip to Cham Islands from nearby Da Nang and Hoi An cities (including the DAD airport and Tien Sa, Chan May cruise ports). Meanwhile, it’s needed to spend 3-5 days for a perfect holiday. If don’t have time, Cham Island is a good choice for seeing tropical beaches, taking part in underwater activities and trying fresh seafood.

– From July to September, the weather is best in the year in Cham Islands, perfect for beaches and water activities. Meanwhile, it’s not good in Phu Quoc. For that reason, if travel to Vietnam between July and September, visitors should choose Cham Island instead to avoid any disappointments. By the way, March and April are great for visiting both islands (meaning that if travel to Vietnam in March or April, there is no problems to explore either Cham Island and Phu Quoc).

– Cham Island is less touristy and commercialized than Phu Quoc Island, especially when staying overnight.
