What to Expect in Dai Binh Village?

Dai Binh Village is a well-known rural village in Quang Nam, a province in central Vietnam (today Da Nang city). Established in 1778, it sits on the bend of the upstream area of the Thu Bon River, the largest river in the area. Thanks to this location, local people here have cultivated a variety of fruits and flowers for hundreds of years, giving it a nickname ‘Little Mekong delta’. In Vietnamese, its name means ‘big/great’ and ‘peacefulness’.

Every year, “Dai Binh Village Festival” takes place around August, the fruit season at the village’s communal house (or stadium). This is the time when local and international visitors coming here to try different fruits such as pomelo/grape fruit (the most famous fruit from the village), jack fruit, durian, mango steen, mango, pineapple, banana, orange,… In the event, sport competitions, music performances and games, markets,… also occur.

Hidden away in lush fruit gardens and small lanes, it’s possible to find some traditional houses with an age of +100 years. Although not very old like the ones in Loc Yen Village, these houses are still worth seeing, especially those who look for authentic Vietnamese rural lifestyle and residence.

There is a couple of restaurants and eateries in Dai Binh Village to have food. If go with a group, a reservation in advance should be made.
