Getting from Ba Na Hills (Da Nang) to Phu Quoc by Flight
In the southwest region of Vietnam, in the Gulf of Thailand and near Cambodia border, Phu Quoc is the largest island of the country (nearly 590 km2). It’s connected with the mainland by ferry and flight. Millions of tourists come here yearly for striking beaches, heaven-like islands, great diving experience, extensive amusement parks, Hon Thom cable car (world’s longest cable car), and more.
Ba Na Hills is located in Da Nang city, the capital of central Vietnam. From the city center, the distance to Ba Na Hills is 25-30 kilometers. Today, the best way to get from Ba Na Hills to Da Nang is taking a private transfer from the hills to Da Nang International Airport and then fly to Phu Quoc. In Da Nang, the nearest airport from Ba Na Hills is the Da Nang International Airport (code: DAD). A direct flight from Da Nang to Phu Quoc is 1 hour and 45 minutes long. It’s operated by Vietnam Airlines or/and VietJet Air, depending on the date. We recommend buying tickets early in advance to have the best price. While the fare at Vietnam Airlines (flights started with VN) include both 7-kilograms carry-on baggage and 20-kilograms checked baggage, the flight fare at VietJet Air includes 7-kilograms carry-on baggage alone. Before payment, it’s necessary to compare the final cost, no matter which class.
Alongside with direct flights, Vietnam Airlines also operate flights with a stop at Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. Connection time is from 1 to 1,5 hours.
In the future, visitors might find a flight from Sun PhuQuoc Airways, a brand-new airline developed by Sun Group (who owns Ba Na Hills and Hon Thom in Phu Quoc). The first flight is expected to take off in October 2025.
Today, the Da Nang International Airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights. The flight from Da Nang to Phu Quoc is inside Vietnam, so visitors need to come to Terminal 1 (or T1). We recommend being here 2 hours before flight time, and the line at check in counters may be long during midday. Within this terminal, there are many places to eat, drink and shop, including lounges for priority passengers.
