How Long Does It Actually Take to See My Son Sanctuary?
Visitors should plan to spend 2 to 3 hours inside the My Son Sanctuary complex itself. Plus the transfer from the nearest city Da Nang or Hoi An, the entire trip will be 4.5 to 5.5 hours total.
The shortest trip inside My Son Sanctuary is with the largest temple and the show. These are close to each other, and are accessible by a wide, paved road.
You will need 30-60 minutes if want to have lunch.
Here is the duration of each activity if have a full visit at My Son Sanctuary:
– From entrance to the My Son Museum: 5 minutes walking
– Visit the My Son Museum: 30 minutes (45-60 minutes if like to see everything).
– Walk from the museum to the buggy station: 5 minutes (include taking a photo at the bridge cross Khe The River).
– Have a buggy ride to reach further: 10 minutes (10-15 minutes wait in line when it’s crowded)
– Walk from the arrival buggy station to the first temple (Temple H): 10-15 minutes [distance: 600 meters]
– Visit and take photo at Temple H: 10 minutes
– Watch the show at the public theater near Temple H: 30 minutes
– Walk to Temple BCD: 5 minutes [200 meters]
– Visit and take photo at Temple BCD (the biggest complex): 30 minutes (45-60 minutes if like to see everything).
– Walk to Temple A: 5 minutes [200 meters]

How to Save Time at My Son Sanctuary?
To save time at My Son Sanctuary, you should know these tips:
– Go to My Son Sanctuary in the early morning or late afternoon. By that, you can avoid high traffic on the way from the city to this place (from 8 to 10 am). After arriving, do not have to stand in a long line for ticketing, ticket checking and especially buggy transfer.
– After getting off the buggy, walk to the nearby restaurant to ride a bicycle. It’s cheap to rent. See more information and details
– Ride the bicycle on the biggest road to Temple BCD. This is the largest and most worthy area to see and take photo. You do not have to see other temples if not interested in history.
– Skip the show at My Son Sanctuary if you watched the daily performances at Hoi An Traditional Art Performance House because some parts of it are just the same.
– Ride the bicycle on the same way to get back the rental spot.
– Stay overnight in Hoi An because it’s closer than Da Nang. You can save up to 30-45 minutes each way.
Please take note that the buggy can’t take visitors directly to the temples (to preserve the sacredness and peacefulness of the sanctuary). Wheelchair users, disabilities, seniors or people with limited mobility,…will be an exception. The family needs to give the information to the buggy riders directly for this help.
