Best View Points in Marble Mountains, Da Nang
Vong Giang Dai (River Watching Pavilion)
Vong Giang Dai (River Watching Pavilion) is the best view point in Marble Mountains. It’s near Tam Thai Pagoda (50m from its triple gate), lying on the west side of the Water Mountain, and on the way from this pagoda to Tu Tam Pagoda and Tam Ton Pagoda.
At Vong Giang Dai (River Watching Pavilion), it’s possible to see a panoramic view with most mountains of the Marble Mountains (from left to right: the Water Mountain, the Wood Mountain, the Fire Mountain, the Metal Mountain, and the Earth Mountain), Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village, Co Co River (a river flowing from Da Nang to Hoi An), the city, and mountains in the Annamite Range along the horizon (including Ba Na Hills and the holy mountain at My Son Sanctuary). Watching sunset here is absolutely ideal (but make sure that you come before the mountain is closed at 5:30 PM). In the back, visitors can see pagodas and summits.
Besides the view, this pavilion also has a stone stele with three Chinese words carved on it which mean ‘River Watching Pavilion’. It’s established by request of Minh Mang king, and has stood on the place since 1837.
Only from the west side of Water Mountain, visitors can see all mountains in the Marble Mountains. From the east side, it’s possible to see 4 of 5 mountains (missing the Earth Mountain).
To go to Vong Giang Dai (River Watching Pavilion), visitors need to find Tam Thai Pagoda first, and then climb stairs (not many stairs). This Buddhist temple is at the top of the stairs from Gate 1 of the Marble Mountains (visitors will climb 156 steps). If start the hike from Gate 2 on the other side of the mountain or take the elevator, visitors will come to Linh Ung Pagoda first. From here, continue going up (pass by the Sea Watching Pavilion, another good view point and entrance of Van Thong Cave, and go through two stone gates) and then down a bit to see Tam Thai Pagoda.

The Heaven Gate (Cong Troi)
The Heaven Gate (Cong Troi in Vietnamese) is one of 2 peaks in the Marble Mountains that visitors can climb up to. It has its name because it leads to a scenic, open-air place with stunning views, resembling a gateway to heaven.
At the Heaven Gate, the view is 360ºC and awe-inspiring. Here, visitors can see the East Sea (Bien Dong, a sea in the Pacific Ocean), Non Nuoc Beach (one of Da Nang’s most beautiful beaches) and resorts sitting on it, Thuong Thai Peak (the highest point of the mountain), Cham Islands (an archipelago/marine park), most mountains of the Marble Mountains (from left to right: the Water Mountain, the Wood Mountain, the Fire Mountain, the Metal Mountain, and the Earth Mountain), Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village, Co Co River (a river flowing from Da Nang to Hoi An), the city, and mountains in the Annamite Range along the horizon (including Ba Na Hills and the holy mountain at My Son Sanctuary).
There are two ways to go to the Heaven Gate:
+ Find Van Thong Cave, go to its second chamber, and then through a small hole there. See how to get to Van Thong Cave
+ Find the starting point of the stairs to the Heaven Gate behind Tam Thai Pagoda. See how to go to Tam Thai Pagoda

Thuong Thai Peak
Thuong Thai Peak is the highest point in the Marble Mountains. Its height is 106m from the plain. Due to very steep stairs leading to it, this place is the most difficult to visit, and maybe not recommended for those who don’t have a good level of fitness or kids.
At Thuong Thai Peak, the view is 360ºC, breath-taking, and great to take photos.
There are two ways to go to Thuong Thai Peak:
+ Find the starting point of the stairs to Thuong Thai Peak behind Tam Thai Pagoda (see how to go to Tam Thai Pagoda) or find Linh Nham Cave and then keep going up.
+ From east side/elevator side/Linh Ung Pagoda side, can find the starting point of the stairs to Thuong Thai Peak between Van Thong Cave and Tam Thai Pagoda (on right hand).

Xa Loi Tower (or Top of the Elevator)
At the top of Marble Mountain elevator, near Xa Loi Tower, visitors can see a beautiful view too. This spot is easiest to come and it’s suitable for all ages, all levels of fitness, even wheelchair users.
From the top of the elevator at Marble Mountains, visitors can see a stunning view with most mountains of the Marble Mountains (from left to right: the Water Mountain, the Wood Mountain, the Fire Mountain, the Metal Mountain), Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village as well as the sea, Non Nuoc Beach (one of the most beautiful beaches in the area) with resorts sitting on it, Cham Islands, and a small portion of Son Tra Peninsula (aka Monkey Mountain).
To go to this spot, visitors just need to take the elevator (ticket required, 15,000 VND per person) and after getting off, will see the views immediately. If want to skip the elevator, climb the stairs to Linh Ung Pagoda and then walk up to Xa Loi Tower. From the other side of the mountain, find the trail to Linh Ung Pagoda and then turn right to see Xa Loi Tower (do not go down to the pagoda). However, because of no elevator ticket, it’s impossible to access the spot where the best view is provided. For that reason, to see it, visitors can consider buying a ticket (and use it to go down to the plain) or choose other view points.

Vong Hai Dai (Ocean Watching Pavilion)
Vong Hai Dai (Ocean Watching Pavilion) is a view point in the Marble Mountains, near Linh Ung Pagoda that lies on east side of the mountain. In 1837, by request of Minh Mang king, a stone stele and pavilion were established here. On the stele, there are three Chinese words carved, showing the name of the place: Ocean Watching Pavilion.
In the past, visitors could see the sea (East Sea, a sea in the Pacific Ocean), Cham Islands, Non Nuoc Beach, and the plain of Da Nang-Hoi An from here. Today, because of tall and lush trees, the views are blocked. The only visible thing now is Xa Loi Tower, a multi-tiered hexagonal pagoda and stupa.
To go to this spot, visitors can choose one of these ways:
+ climb stairs to Linh Ung Pagoda or take the elevator and then keep going up to Van Thong Cave/Tam Thai Pagoda/Huyen Khong Cave. Find the stairs to Vong Hai Dai (Ocean Watching Pavilion) on left hand.
+ climb stairs from Gate 1 to Tam Thai Pagoda and then follow the trail behind it. Before Linh Ung Pagoda, find the stairs to Vong Hai Dai (Ocean Watching Pavilion) on right hand.
