Marble Mountains Elevator Price & Ticket

The price of Marble Mountains elevator (lift) is 15,000 VND per person per way. Meaning that each adult visitor will pay 45,000 VND to enter and get up this mountain (including 30,000 VND for entrance fee). If want to take the elevator for 2 ways, total cost will be 70,000 VND. Children under 10 years old are free to sightsee, but parents still need to pay elevator ticket(s) for them.

The elevator at Marble Mountains opens from 7:30 am to 5 pm everyday. It’s closed sometimes for maintenance or due to weather (such as typhoon, rainy rain) without any notice in advance. In this case, climbing the stairs is the only way to go up the mountain.

The ticket booth is near the elevator, and sell tickets for one way only. Visitors need to pay by cash here (Vietnam dong, VND). Meaning that paying by foreign currencies or by cards is not accepted. There are some ATMs close to the booth and elevator to withdraw cash if needed.

There is a fact that Marble Mountains have two elevators and they stand next to each other. Each elevator can carry about 10 people (more or less depending on total weight of passengers). It’s quite hot due to no air-conditioner, but not really necessary when the ride is less than 1 minute.

Because Marble Mountains is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Da Nang, therefore it’s crowded during high seasons. To avoid, visitors should visit in the early morning or late afternoon, OR climb the stairs.

Should I Take Marble Mountains Elevator?

The elevator at Marble Mountains (Water Mountain) helps to skip over 100 steps to go to Linh Ung Pagoda, a major attraction. To visit other places (Tam Thai Pagoda, Huyen Khong Cave, Heaven Gate,…), visitors still need to climb many stairs.

Those who have a limited mobility or not-high level of fitness or small kids or old people, should use the elevator to get up and sightsee then. Besides the beautiful view from the top of the lift, visitors can see Xa Loi Tower (which has a 28-meters height and 7 stories), Linh Ung Pagoda (the oldest Buddhist site in the city), Tang Chon Cave (the third largest cave in the mountain), lots of fine marble sculptures, tall burial towers belonging to different generations of monks,…

Many visitors want to take elevator for both ways. From Tam Thai Pagoda, the last attraction on the hike in Marble Mountains, the stairs down to the plain are big and steep. To protect the knees, someone likes returning to the elevator and use it to get down.

Wheelchair users can use the elevator to go up the Marble Mountains to enjoy the views and cool breeze from there. Additionally, Xa Loi Tower is also good to see and have some nice pictures. Buddhists or anyone believing in Buddha, can pray here too. For us, it’s better than sitting in a coffee shop in the village.

For visitors who like hiking, trekking or outdoor activities, the elevator is not necessary in Marble Mountains. There are only 100 steps that can be skipped. That’s not much if have a good level of fitness or still young.

The View from Top of Marble Mountains Elevator

If take the elevator to go up the mountain, after getting off the elevator, visitors will see a view to the sea on the right hand side. It’s blue and calm almost all year round. The breeze from the ocean is really cool and fresh. The coastline has white sand and big resorts filled with trees and coconut palms. Further, it’s possible to see Cham Islands, a group of 7 islands that is famous for wealthy marine life and UNESCO title ‘world biosphere reserve’. A small piece of Monkey Mountain (aka Son Tra Peninsula) can be observed too. However, this spot is not high enough to view Lady Buddha (67 meters), one of the tallest Buddhas in Southeast Asia.

On the left hand side of the bridge, there is a view to 4 of five mountains in the Marble Mountains. Clockwise, they are the Water mountain or Thuy Son (where you stand), the Wood mountain or Moc Son, the Fire Mountain or Hoa Son (the smallest) and the Metal mountain or Kim Son. The Wood mountain, due to its vertical cliffs, is still inaccessible by humans. The top of the Metal mountain is flat because the US army constructed a guard post there to protect their military base ‘Marble Mountain’ and the road below. To see all mountains of the Marble Mountains, please climb to Vong Giang Dai (River Watching Pavilion) near Tam Thai Pagoda.
