What to Expect in Le Duan Night Market Da Nang?

Le Duan Night Market is a local night market located in a narrow, 200-meters-long alley of Le Duan Street, in the city downtown of Da Nang. It’s named after Le Duan (Street), a Vietnamese communist politician and a founding member of the Indochina Communist Party, who lived from 1907 to 1986. This night market is less known for tourists, compared to bigger Son Tra Night Market and Helio Night Market.

Today, Le Duan Night Market has stalls and vendors selling different things, including read-to-wear clothes and other fashion items (shoes, bags, belt, socks, swimsuit, pants, shorts, T-shirts, underwear,…), local processed food and snacks (dried fruits, dried seafood, candies, candied fruits, cakes,…). In general, the price here is cheaper than other night markets in the city because buyers are mainly locals. So, bargaining sometimes is not necessary. If looking for souvenirs (like handicraft products, paintings, postcards, etc), choices in this night market are not diverse.

Around the entrance of Le Duan Night Market, visitors can see a local restaurant serving Chao vit (duck porridge). This food is popular around the city at night. A bowl of chao vit has rice porridge topped with slices of boiled duck, duck blood curd, ground black pepper and coriander leaves. If want to have more meat, people can call for a duck salad in which boiled duck slices are mixed with green banana, green mango, green starfruit, herbs and spices. Fish sauce which has garlic, chilli and ginger is also served to add more flavours into the porridge. See more information & details

Nearby, there are some stalls selling fresh fruits (mango, guava, water melon, grape, apple, pineapple, jackfruit, so on) and beverages (such as sugar cane juice, iced tea, kumquat iced tea, canned drinks, soft drinks, etc).

At the end of Le Duan Night Market, visitors will see Hai Phong Street, one of the major roads in Da Nang city center. It’s named after Hai Phong city (near HaLong Bay), the largest port city in Northern Vietnam region and the 3rd biggest city in Vietnam. Along it, there are many restaurants and coffee shops because offices and hospitals are located in the area. If go westwards, will see the Da Nang Railway Station where visitors can have a train ride to Hue, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, Ninh Binh, Hanoi, Dong Hoi,…

Along Le Duan Street, there are many shops selling clothes for both men and women, adults and children. It’s also possible to find accessories, jewelleries,… that visitors can buy and bring home.

How to Get to Le Duan Night Market in Da Nang

Le Duan Night Market is located at 144 Le Duan Alley, Le Duan Street, Thach Thang ward, Hai Chau district, Da Nang city, Vietnam. It’s on the West bank of the Han River.

From Da Nang, visitors can walk, get a car/taxi/minivan/bus, or ride a motorbike. If stay in the hotel within Thach Thang ward of Hai Chau district, it’s possible to go to Le Duan Night Market by foot. If ride the motorbike, find the quickest way to Le Duan Street, one of the main roads in the city. From the East bank of the Han River (Son Tra district, Ngu Hanh Son district), Visitors should go to the Han River Bridge and then cross it, go straight and the night market lies on the right hand side. The parking lot is around its entrance, with a fee of 5,000-10,000 VND/bike/time.

From Hoi An, the distance to Le Duan Night Market is some 30 kilometers. Visitors often hire a private car or ride a motorbike. The drive by car is about 40 mins long and by motorbike is a bit longer. If ride the motorbike on your own, we suggest going along the coastal road to save time (because of less houses). Firstly, it’s needed to find the quickest way to the crossroad at An Bang Beach (Lac Long Quan St – Hai Ba Trung St crossroad). After that, follow Lac Long Quan St and keep riding straight away until seeing the crossroad of Vo Nguyen Giap St and Pham Van Dong Street (East Sea Park, Phuoc My Beach or Pham Van Dong Beach). Turn left, go straight ahead, cross the Han River Bridge and then Le Duan Night Market lies on the right hand side. Parking lot is by its main entrance, on Phan Dang Luu St, with a fee of 5,000-10,000 VND/bike/time.

Public transportation is available around Le Duan Night Market, but in the evening, choices are limited and it’s quite inconvenient.
