Our Lady of La Vang Church

At this serene sanctuary, you can admire the soaring, contemporary architecture of the main basilica and the haunting, ivy-covered ruins of the original bell tower that survived decades of conflict. The sprawling, tranquil grounds are filled with deeply symbolic landmarks, including the elegant statue of the Virgin Mary dressed in a traditional Vietnamese gown and the quiet, winding pathways dedicated to the Stations of the Cross. This sacred landscape offers visitors a peaceful atmosphere for reflection, where they can walk the site of the legendary 1798 apparition and connect with the resilient history of the local community. Optional sightseeing places (extra fee)

Between Da Nang and Our Lady of La Vang, visitors can see one of these places:

(1) Phu Cam Cathedral: traces its roots back to a 17th-century bamboo chapel, though its current modernist structure was only completed in 2000 after decades of political delays. Designed by architect Ngo Viet Thu, the cathedral features a distinct cross-shaped floor plan that masterfully blends Western Catholic traditions with Eastern aesthetic principles. See more details

(2) Tri Buu Church: has a storied history as a spiritual anchor for the local Catholic community, dating back to the arrival of Jesuit missionaries in the region during the 17th century. Over the centuries, the parish has endured periods of intense persecution and conflict, standing today as a testament to the persistent faith of the local people. See more details

(3) Hai Van Pass: a spectacular mountain route that winds along the coast, offering breathtaking, panoramic views of the sea and jungle as it connects Da Nang and Hue. See more details

(4) Hue Imperial City: was established in 1804 by Emperor Gia Long as the grand administrative and political capital of the Nguyen Dynasty, Vietnam’s final royal lineage. Though the complex suffered significant damage during the wars of the 20th century, its UNESCO-listed palaces and fortifications remain a powerful window into the grandeur of imperial Vietnamese governance. See more details
