What to Expect in Kon Tum Prison?
Kon Tum Prison was built from 1905 to 1917 by French people in an isolated place on the bank of Dak Bla River. After the uprising of Nghe-Tinh soviets in 1930-1931, the colonists captured a large number of Vietnamese people who opposed them, and then brought the prisoners to Kon Tum to work in the construction of Route 14 (from the coastal areas to the highlands).
In 1988, Kon Tum Prison was recognized as national historical site. By 2030, local authorities want it to be special national heritage.
Above the tombs, there is a museum showcasing history of Kon Tum Prison.

How to Get to Kon Tum Prison
Kon Tum Prison is in the end of Truong Quang Trong Street, Vinh Quang ward, Kon Tum city, Kon Tum province, Vietnam (now Kon Tum ward, Quang Ngai province). It’s around 2 kilometers from the city center, and nearly 60 kilometers from Mang Den.
From Kon Tum city, visitors can walk, take a taxi/car, or ride the motorbike to reach Kon Tum Prison.
From Mang Den, the most popular to go to Kon Tum Prison (in Kon Tum city) are taking a private car/bus and riding the motorbike. The drive will be around 1 hour if going by car/bus.
