What is Hoi An Station at Ba Na Hills?

The Hoi An Station is one of cable car stations in Ba Na Hills. It opened on 18th March 2022, to celebrate the 47th Vietnam Unification day. Here, visitors will take the direct cable car to Golden Hands Bridge, a world-famous attraction at an elevation of 1,414 meters. This cable car line is 5,261 meters long, amongst the longest cable cars in the world. It takes passengers from 15 to 30 minutes to complete a ride. During it, the views to Ba Na Nui Chua nature reserve (with untouched forests, craggy rocks, rolling hills, waterfalls, clouds) and Da Nang city are incredibly beautiful. See more information & details

Compared to other cable car stations in Ba Na Hills, the Hoi An Station is the lowest and the most beautiful station.

This station is named after Hoi An, the ancient town located 30 kilometers away from Da Nang city. It played its role as an international port where Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and European people meet and trade, from the 15th to the 19th centuries. In 1999, it’s recognized as a Unesco world heritage site. See more information & details

In the Hoi An Station at Ba Na Hills, visitors will see typical images of Hoi An:

– Lanterns are used to decorate the station. This is one of the symbols of Hoi An. See more information & details

– Mural paintings on the ceiling of covered walkways to the Hoi An Station are exactly the same to old quarters of Hoi An. This impresses visitors while going to the station.

– The ceiling of the room where visitors take the cable car is decorated by wooden boats and floating lanterns, depicting the river in Hoi An at night. This is absolutely one of the best memories about the town. See more information & details

– Shop houses selling souvenirs, foods and beverages, are similar to old houses in Hoi An (tiled roof, yellow walls, decorated by lanterns).

– Photos hung on the walls of the station are about Hoi An old town.

How to Get to Hoi An Station in Ba Na Hills

The Hoi An Station is located in a massive complex of constructions at the foot of Ba Na Hills. This complex includes cable car stations, ticket offices, souvenir shops, coffee shops, restaurants, gardens, street stalls, restrooms,…

From the Time Gate, visitors will need to walk across any bridges to see the Cong Thanh (Main Gate) with a big ‘Sun World Ba Na Hills’ sign. This building is inspired by Ngo Mon Gate, the main gate of the Imperial City in Hue, the former capital city of Vietnam (from 1802 to 1954).

If come here earlier than 3:00 pm, visitors need to go in, turn right and take the escalator (or climb stairs or take the elevator if being a wheelchair user) to go upstairs. After that, there are two ways to go to the Hoi An Station. Depending on the weather, the Ba Na Hills company will put up a sign or arrange people to show visitors the exact direction. If it’s sunny, turn left immediately after finishing the escalator, and then walk across the Memory Garden (one of the prettiest gardens in the park). At the end of the path, turn left and go straight. If it’s rainy, go straight after finishing the escalator, and then walk along the covered corridor until seeing the station.

Staff of Ba Na Hills are always ready along the way from the main entrance to the Hoi An Station to show you the right directions. Don’t worry about getting lost inside this huge construction complex.

Along the way to the Hoi An Station, visitors will see small stalls selling coffee, cold beverages, snacks, Vietnamese street food, ice cream, souvenirs as well as traditional dances sometimes. Except shops, cash (VND) is required to pay.

If come later than 3:00 pm, visitors will take the escalator on the left hand side to go upstairs. After that, go straight and see the station immediately. This is the quickest way to reach Hoi An Station, but it’s opened just after 3 pm.

Before 3:00 pm, the quickest ways to get to the Hoi An Station are coming early in the morning (before 8:30 am) when the crowds are not in the park yet, OR getting a WOW pass (skip-the-line ticket). This ticket costs 300,000 to 3,000,000 VND, depending on the class. The cheapest ticket allows the holders to skip the queues in all cable car stations. The best choice between these ways is up to your budget and time.

Other Cable Cars to Golden Hands Bridge

On some days during the year, the cable car to Golden Hands Bridge is closed. For that reason, visitors need to ride one of the other cable cars in Ba Na Hills to go up the mountain and then get a transfer to see the bridge.

If the cable car to Golden Hands Bridge is closed, visitors may need to go to Thac Toc Tien Station or Champa Station to get another cable car. Both of these stations are in a higher location than the Hoi An Station, so anyway it’s needed to climb stairs or take the escalator/elevator. Thac Toc Tien Station is nearer than Champa Station. Additionally, both cable cars will land at the French Village, particularly L’Indochina Station, on the top of the mountain.

After getting off the car, go upstairs and then find the quickest way to walk to Louvre Station. If do not go with a local guide, let’s ask the staff in information booths near the entrance of the L’Indochine Station. Louvre Station is underground, and from here, cable cars will carry passengers to Bordeaux Station (which lies in another mountain). After getting off, go downstairs and the Golden Hands Bridge is on the left side.

Sometimes, visitors must get the cable car from Suoi Mo Station, the oldest station in Ba Na Hills. It’s not far way from the Hoi An Station and no escalator/elevator is needed to get there. It takes passengers about 15 minutes to complete the cable car ride. After landing at the Ba Na Station, walk outside and use the Ba Na Hills Funicular 1 to reach the hilltop where the Golden Hands Bridge is located. This train ride is only 2 minutes, but the queue at the departure station is quite long (because people come to it at the same time). Each time, the train can carry up to 80 people. After it arrives at the upper station (hilltop), walk outside and follow the path on the left side to see the bridge.
