It’s an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Lying in its heart, the Japanese Bridge is the most iconic building. Following Tran Phu Street, the most beautiful road in the town, see the Hoi An Central Market that is active and colorful with diverse local products. To enter the Hoi An Ancient Town (a Unesco world heritage site) and historical sites within it, every visitor needs to buy a ticket costing 120,000 VND (2025). Our guide will take you to an office to buy tickets by your own expense. See all information about ‘Hoi An Old Town ticket’

*Visitors under 15 years old will not need to buy ticket for the town and be free of charge to enter historical sites then.

Hoi An Old Town Walking Tour with Local Guide

Hoi An Ancient Town is an exceptionally well-preserved South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. In 1999, it’s honored to be a world heritage site. This town is famous for pretty narrow streets with yellow-wall houses, colorful lanterns and many tailor shops. It’s also one of the most photographed places in Vietnam. See more details

In Hoi An, you will see these places:

– Japanese Covered Bridge: the symbol of Hoi An. This wooden building was constructed in the 17th century by Japanese people. Today, it’s also called ‘Pagoda bridge’ because it has a small temple where the locals worship a Taoist god. See more details

– Tan Ky Old House: the most typical old wooden house in Hoi An. Its main entrance is on a main street and its back is by the river (or quay). The family who owns it, sold the silk and cinnamon in the past and the wealth of the family is reflected by premium furniture, collections of antiquities and decorative items. In the last hall, visitors can see the water levels of the floods by year. See more details

– Hoi An Traditional Art Performance House: watch the show in which traditional art of singing, dancing, opera, musical instruments, bingo game are performed by local artists. See more details

Fujian Assembly Hall: see the largest and the most richly-decorated Chinese temple in Hoi An. It boasts the glorious architecture and sophisticated wooden carvings that are made by the most skillful local craftmen. Here, the community has been worshipping Thien Hau Goddess and organized festivals to commemorate and honor her during the year. See more details

Hoi An Central Market: Visit the oldest and biggest market in Hoi An. Here, people sell a huge variety of local products, including fresh vegetables, tropical fruits, fishes, seafood, poultries, spices, noodles, household items, lanterns,… Walk through the food hall where local women make and sell different local food and food specialties. In the front of the market, there is a ancient well that is still in use and covered by a tile pavilion. See more details

– Traditional handicrafts workshop: meet a local woman wearing traditional ao dai dress and listen to her introduction about Hoi An’s local handicrafts (silk making, lantern making, garment making, silk painting making, etc)

– Go pass by Hainan Assembly Hall, Hoi An Cloth Market, Minh Huong Communal House, Quan Cong Temple, Trung Hoa Assembly Hall, Phung Hung Old House, Kazik Park,…

Tour ends & payment

When the tour ends, you will pay us the fee for private tour guide. It’s 500,000 VND (20 USD) for solo traveler, 700,000 VND (28 USD) for group of 2 to 4 people, 1,000,000 VND (40 USD) for group of 5 to 8 people, and 1,300,000 VND for group of 9 to 15 people.

You will the fee by cash (VND or USD). Please give it directly to your guide.

A tip is recommended for groups and it depends on your level of enjoyment.

What to bring/wear

Visitors should wear comfortable walking shoes, hat/cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, rain poncho/jacket (from October to January), cash. 

To visit the temples, please wear respectively. In other words, make sure that the pants cover the upper knees and the shirt covers the navel, shoulders, armpits.
