History of Hoi An Memories Land
In March 2008, ‘Hoi An Impression Theme Park’ construction project was approved by local authorities. It spans an area of over 11 hectares, or the whole of Con Hen (meaning ‘clam island’), an island on the Thu Bon River. Total cost is up to 43 million USD.
On 18th March 2018, ‘Hoi An Impression Theme Park’ was opened to visitors. Meanwhile, the largest outdoor visual art performance of Vietnam ‘Hoi An Memories Show’ was debuted. After that, it’s honored to be one of the world’s best cultural shows.
In 2022, ‘Hoi An Impression Theme Park’ was changed to ‘Hoi An Memories Land’ because this complex doesn’t have a theme park only, but also a luxury hotel.
On 26th March 2022, the opening ceremony of Vietnam Tourism Year took place at Hoi An Memories Land because Quang Nam province is the host.
Things to See & Do in Hoi An Memories Land Theme Park
Hoi An Memories Show – Hoi An Best Show
The Hoi An Memories Show is the main show and the best of the Hoi An Memories Land. It debuted in 2018, with the participation of nearly 500 actors and specialists, making it the most spectacular in Vietnam. Visitors can watch it every night (except Tuesday), therefore it’s needed to check the date before planning a trip to Hoi An.
This show is 1 hour long and tells the spectators the history and culture of Hoi An, from its beginning to present day. It’s possible to see beautiful Vietnamese women wearing traditional long dress dancing or riding the bicycle or playing one-string zither, groups of young men reclaiming the new land & building new villages, a family catching fishes & collecting snails for living, a wedding between Vietnamese princess and Cham king, trading activities between Vietnamese and people from the rest of the world, boats moving on the river, the love between a girl and a seafarer, Japanese covered bridge, local textile industry, and so much more.
Hoi An Memories Show is absolutely the best show in Hoi An and worth watching anyway. See more information & details in https://hoiandaytrip.com/hoi-an-memories-show
The Moonlight Bridge
The Moonlight Bridge is the walking bridge connecting the Hoi An Memories Land with Hoi An city, from the north direction. It spans a small branch of Thu Bon River flowing between the island and the city, with a length of 170 meters (approx 557 ft). Its design is inspired by the full moon when the Hoi An Lantern Festival takes place. From its top, visitors can see such a beautiful view of the river, boats with colorful lanterns, lots of floating paper lanterns, the theme park, and the city. Interestingly, near the top, the bridge’s floor is glass bottom, allowing the passenger to see the river from a height of nearly 20 meters. In the sunset, the scenery is just mind-blowing. The Moonlight Bridge is a must see attraction in Hoi An. See more information & details
To get to the Moonlight Bridge, visitors need to go to the petrol station on Tran Quang Khai Street or Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street, east of Hoi An’s Old Town.
Visitors have to show the ticket if want to walk on the Moonlight Bridge. If just need a couple of pictures, you can go along the riverside road to find the best spots or book a boat trip. Its opening hours are the same as Hoi An Memories Land.
Mini Shows in Hoi An Memories Land
Once the main show Hoi An Memories Show starts, there are many small shows/performances available to see in the Hoi An Memories Land. All of them are free. The first minishow is at 5:00 PM, and the last one is by 7:30 PM (just before the theatre for the main show opens its door). Visitors absolutely will have a fun time for watching these entertaining performances and take photos then with artists at the end.
Here are minishows which visitors may see when visit the Hoi An Memories Land:
– ‘Integration’ show: a cheerful dancing performance with artists who wear the costume from different countries (to represent the history of Hoi An as an international trading port).

– ‘Queen of Silk’ show: a performance about the love between Nguyen Phuc Lan lord and a beautiful girl who picks the mulberry leaf to raise the silkworms. He later marries her and she helps to develop the local silk weaving industry. People honour her as ‘Queen of Silk’.
– ‘Wedding of Ngoc Hoa Princess’ show: a performance to tell us a true history story. In 1961, Nguyen Phuc Nguyen lord married his adopted daughter to a Japanese merchant, to build up the friendship between Vietnam and Japan. After the marriage, the merchant and the princess went to Nagasaki (Japan) and lived there, to run the business and help locals.
– ‘Calling the general’ show: a performance about the story in which Nguyen Phuc Nguyen lord and his navy won Dutch war ships at Hoi An in the past. Before that, he travels around the country and calls for talents to serve the army.
Vietnamese, Chinese & Japanese Villages
The theme park section of Hoi An Memories Land has three villages to visit. Each one of them is themed on a different Asian culture, including Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese. In the past, people from these countries lived together in peace at Hoi An trading port-town, bringing it a special cultural fusion.
Here are some information about the villages:
– The Vietnamese Village: has a covered bridge (modelled on the famous Japanese Bridge in Hoi An Ancient Town), a Buddhist temple, a restaurant serving local, regional and national dishes.
– The Chinese Village: has a moon bridge (typical to China), restaurants serving Chinese food, and shophouses. One of the mini shows occurs here.

The Hoi An Memories Land has a restaurant that is totally constructed by bamboo. It’s Non La Restaurant (meaning ‘Leaf [Conical] Hat’ restaurant). Its architecture is unique to Vietnam, and designed by one of the most famous Vietnamese architect Vo Trong Nghia. Its top looks like a traditional Vietnamese hat. It’s surrounded by a lotus and water lily lake, allowing visitors to see/photograph its reflection on the water.
If book the dinner combo with the park ticket or show ticket, visitors may come here to eat. It’s not far away from the theatre where Hoi An Memories Show occurs, so it’s convenient and easy to time the trip.
In Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese villages, there are some other restaurants to dine out as well. Make sure that you come to the park at least 1 hour before the big show, especially weekends or Vietnam’s national holidays. Because of many customers, the kitchen may need time to make food. The Vietnamese restaurant sure lies within the Vietnamese village. It caters local, regional and national dishes (such as mi quang noodle, cao lau noodle, chicken rice, fried wonton, pho noodle soup, etc).
Near the Moonlight Bridge (Tran Quang Khai Street or Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street), it’s possible to find some local restaurants and eateries. They have tables with a view to the bridge, the river and boats that are pretty to look at.
