Water buffalo ride
In Vietnam, water buffalo is primarily used for plowing and harrowing the wet rice paddies and transporting crops across the countryside.
In Hoi An, water buffalo ride is an authentic and gentle eco-tourism experience that allows visitors to sit on the back of a buffalo while touring the tranquil, waterlogged rice paddies and witnessing the traditional farming landscape.
If do not want to ride the water buffalo, you can see it and take pictures with it, or simply skip this activity.
Duck farm
Nestled in the lush countryside surrounding Hoi An, local duck farms offer visitors an authentic glimpse into traditional Vietnamese agriculture. Travelers can watch hundreds of ducks dynamically herded across the landscape, learning how these birds naturally help control pests in the nearby rice paddies. Here are things to see/do in Cam Thanh Coconut Village:
– Van Lang Fishing Village: see an authentic central Vietnam’s fishing village with thatched-roof bamboo house and embark the basket boat ride to discover the water coconut forest.
– Small canals inside Bay Mau Coconut Forest, a protected mangrove forest and former hiding place of Vietcong guerillas in the war.
– Watch a live performance of boat spinning by a local man and then have the chance to join him if want to have an adventurous experience.
– Watch how the locals catch fish by traditional net, the way they do every single day in the rivers to earn for living. Have the chance to try your hand if want to be a fisherman.
– Go crab fishing: follow the instruction from locals to catch small brackish crabs which run fast and hide well. Release crabs right before exit the coconut forest because won’t eat.
– Learn how to row the basket boat, a fishing vessel unique to central coast of Vietnam.
Return to Hoi An
You will cycle back to the hotel in Hoi An center or the meeting point to end the tour.

– Our driver & guide will pick you at your hotel in Da Nang city center (including Hai Chau District, Son Tra District except Nai Hien Dong ward & Tho Quang ward, Ngu Hanh Son District except Hoa Hai ward & Hoa Quy ward) or Hoi An city center.
– In the end of the tour, our driver & guide will drop you off at your hotel.

A half day with rural life
We loved this tour/experience and highly recommend it to everyone! Mr. Bao is a lovely host and we learned so much about the Hoi An area, the locals and also history on Vietnam. We rode bicycles, learned about local farming practices, got up-close and personal with a water buffalo, plowed mud, planted rice, went on the river in the basket boats and had a small cooking demonstration with a delicious lunch. A fantastic day!
Fun countryside tour in Hoi An
The best tour we have had, water buffalo riding was so much fun, basket boat rides were great and the tour guide Mr Trung was very knowledgeable and friendly. Bike tour was a good length through beautiful rice fields, got to see some peanuts and rice harvesting. Lunch was amazing with the Vietnamese pancake cooking being a lot of fun. Definitely recommend this tour!
