Things to See & Do in Bach Dang Walking Street of Da Nang

Bach Dang Walking Street was opened on 8th June 2024. It’s part of a project in which local authorities want to bring tourists more activities at night, especially along Han River waterfronts.

The main entrance (north entrance) of Bach Dang Walking Street is the crossroad of Bach Dang Street and 2 Thang 9 Street, near Cham Sculpture Museum, APEC Park and the Dragon Bridge. Before taking a walk here, visitors can sightsee them. The Museum was opened in 1919, to preserve thousands of Champa stone sculptures, and it closes at 5 pm. The Bridge is ever honored as one of 16 world’s most unique bridges. The Park is built to celebrate the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation taking place in Da Nang in 2017.

Along the street or nearby riverside promenade, visitors have a leisurely, free and easy walk. In the middle, there is a semi-circle square where pedestrians can find many chairs to have a seat, enjoy cool and fresh air (blowing from the river) and an interesting view to the beautiful riverscape of Da Nang. It’s easy to see/photograph full Dragon Bridge (city’s most unique bridge), full Tran Thi Ly Bridge (an imposing cable-stayed bridge), Sun Wheel (one of 10 world’s tallest observation wheels) and lightful, joyful cruise boats moving on the water. On the weekend, seeing the fire and water show at Dragon Bridge or beautiful fireworks from Da Nang Downtown (theme park) from Bach Dang Walking Street are also interesting.

There are many stalls selling food, beverage and souvenirs along Bach Dang Walking Street where visitors can see many selections to choose from. Food options here are often fried and grilled dishes, such as fried fish ball skewers (ca vien chien), grilled rice paper (banh trang nuong),… Drinks include Vietnamese traditional coffee with condensed milk, coconut coffee, egg coffee,… and non-alcohol drinks (juice, smoothie, ) as well as cold canned drinks. For shoppers, local products are seen in Bach Dang Walking Street too. Their selling products are local cakes and candies (Cam Le dry sesame cake, Hue sesame cake, candied fruits, dry fruits), processed nuts, dried seafood, caramelized seafood,… The origin, valid dates and prices are clearly shown, making visitors feel easier to buy something.

In the end (south entrance) of the Bach Dang Walking Street, visitors keep walking to Nguyen Van Troi Walking Bridge, to see/photograph the city and the river with bridges and river cruises. Further down south, Helio Night Market and Da Nang Downtown (formely Asia Park) are other must go places during the night. The amusement park has a huge ferris wheel (can observe the whole city from the top), kool rides, a miniature of Angkor Wat wonder, restaurants, street food stalls and shows/performances.

Bach Dang Walking Street is worth visiting, suitable for those who seek an easy and breezy nighttime experience after getting busy with amazing attractions during the day. It’s a perfect place to chill out and have a local laid-back lifestyle.
