Originally founded by French colonists in 1919 as a cool hill station resort to escape the coastal heat, Ba Na Hills was largely abandoned and ruined during decades of twentieth-century war. In 2007, the Vietnamese developer Sun Group began reviving the site, transforming it into a major modern tourism complex famous for its record-breaking cable cars and the iconic Golden Bridge.
