How to Visit Tam Thanh Mural Village
Tam Thanh Mural Village is a must see attraction in Tam Ky city. It’s the first mural village in Vietnam. Here, visitors will see over 100 paintings drawn on the walls of rural houses, which have different ideas (marine species, catching fishes, children playing together,…). Korean artists spent 22 days (from 7th to 28th June 2016) to complete them, as a part of the Vietnam-Korea Joint Project: Art for a Better Community. Visitors absolutely have a good time to wander around the village and take beautiful, fun pictures with the paintings.
In June 2021, more than 30 paintings are added in Tam Thanh Mural Village. Near the welcome gate (south), basket boats (small round bamboo boats) are decorated and painted by different colors and contents. This kind of fishing boat is unique to coastal areas in central Vietnam and sure, not found anywhere else in the world. Down the river, it’s possible to see hanging fishing nets and fish traps which local people use to catch fishes.
The best way to explore Tam Thanh Mural Village is walking. Along the main road (Thanh Nien Road), it’s easy to see mural paintings on the walls of local houses and in small alleys. The paths along the river and the beach are peaceful and can not be missed.
On the other hand, Tam Thanh Mural Village is also an authentic Vietnamese fishing village. Therefore, visitors can expect to see and photograph the daily life of fisherman. The nearby beach (called Tam Thanh Beach) is beautiful and has no tourist impacts at all. It boasts a long stretch of fine sand with the blue ocean in the front.
In Tam Thanh Mural Village, it’s possible to find some small local family restaurants where seafood dishes are served. If seek a place to stay overnight, there are also a dozen of hotels and homestays to choose from.

How to Get to Tam Thanh Mural Village in Tam Ky
Tam Thanh Mural Village is located in Tam Thanh commune, Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province, Vietnam. It’s close to Tam Thanh Beach (Tam Ky Beach).
From Tam Ky city center, the distance to Tam Thanh Mural Village is about 10 kilometers. Visitors can take a taxi, private car/van/bus, or ride the motorbike to go to this place. If go by car, the drive is 15-20 minutes long (tell your taxi driver to wait for a while to reach other attractions or back to the city because there’re no taxis there). If go by motorbike, find the quickest way to Nguyen Tat Thanh Road or Thanh Hoa Road (DT614 Road), and then go towards the sea. At the crossroad of Thanh Nien Road, turn into it and go straight to the village.
From Da Nang or Hoi An, the distance to Tam Thanh Mural Village is from 45 to 80 kilometers. Visitors can take a taxi, private car/van/bus, or ride the motorbike to go to this place. If go by car, the drive is 1-1,5 hours long. If go by motorbike, find the quickest way to the coastal road Vo Nguyen Giap and then go southwards. After riding cross Cua Dai Bridge (in Hoi An), keep going straight until seeing the crossroad of Vo Chi Cong Road and Nguyen Tat Thanh Road (location on Google maps: 15°36’30.1″N 108°31’07.4″E). Turn left, go straight, and at the crossroad of Le Thanh Tong Road, turn left, ride cross the bridge. At the crossroad of Thanh Nien Road, turn right and then keep going straight to see the village.
If you go from Da Nang or Hoi An, make sure that you know Ky Anh Tunnels and Vietnam’s Heroic Mother Statue to add in the trip.
