From Da Nang, this day tour shows you Tra Que Vegetable Village, a rural village with long tradition of vegetable and herb growing. Here, local farmers still use traditional ways to cultivate a variety of vegetables that are honored to be Vietnam’s national intangible heritage. Herbs from here are thought to have the best qualities and are used to prepare local specialty dishes of Hoi An. Meet a farmer, learn how to grow baby herbs from him/her and do it yourself. Next, visit a local family restaurant where you will have a fun time in making different Vietnamese foods (such as banh xeo pancakes, fried spring rolls, etc). Try the dishes you made and enjoy the lunch with additional food in an extremely peaceful place. In the afternoon, explore the Hoi An Ancient Town. It’s an exceptionally well-preserved international trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Here, you will see fine monuments from Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese communities. Hoi An is known as ‘yellow city’ or ‘city of lanterns’ by travelers.

Our driver and guide will pick up you at your hotel. If it’s in Da Nang city center, our guide will be in the lobby, so please wait him/her here. 

Tra Que Vegetable Village

Located on a fertile island, Tra Que Vegetable Village is the biggest fresh vegetable producer in Hoi An. Since the 16th century, local people here have still been using traditional farming techniques to grow vegetables and herbs. See more information & details

Here are activities that you will do in Tra Que Vegetable Village:

– Visit vegetable gardens and learn about different types of herb from our guide

– Meet a real farmer and learn how to grow young vegetables from him/her

– Have an experience of watering the vegetables by a shoulder pole and buckets, have the opportunities to take fun pictures

Cooking class in Tra Que Vegetable Village

Visit a local family restaurant and meet family members. They will teach you how to prepare different Vietnamese dishes (such as banh xeo crispy pancakes, fried spring rolls, banana flower salad or papaya salad, specialty rolls of the village called ‘tam huu’) and sure, you have a hands-on experience. Learn about ingredients, ways of cooking and insights of Vietnamese culinary culture from local chef.

The herbs are picked from the nearby gardens.

Have lunch

Have lunch with dishes which you made in the cooking class and additional dishes from the local restaurant. Enjoy the view to the gardens and peacefulness of the village.

Hoi An Ancient Town

Hoi An Ancient Town is an exceptionally well-preserved South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. In 1999, it’s honored to be a world heritage site. This town is famous for pretty narrow streets with yellow-wall houses, colorful lanterns and many tailor shops. It’s also one of the most photographed places in Vietnam. See more details

In Hoi An, you will see these places:

– Japanese Covered Bridge: the symbol of Hoi An. This wooden building was constructed in the 17th century by Japanese people. Today, it’s also called ‘Pagoda bridge’ because it has a small temple where the locals worship a Taoist god. See more details

– Tan Ky Old House: the most typical old wooden house in Hoi An. Its main entrance is on a main street and its back is by the river (or quay). The family who owns it, sold the silk and cinnamon in the past and the wealth of the family is reflected by premium furniture, collections of antiquities and decorative items. In the last hall, visitors can see the water levels of the floods by year. See more details

– Fujian Assembly Hall: the largest and the most richly-decorated assembly hall in Hoi An. Here, the Fujian Chinese people worship Thien Hau Goddess (Goddess of Sea) and other deities. This place is one of the most photographed historical site in town. See more details

– Hoi An Central Market: the oldest and the biggest market in Hoi An. Here, visitors will see a food hall where local women sell different dishes as well as a huge variety of local products. See more details

– Traditional handicrafts workshop: meet a local woman wearing traditional ao dai dress and listen to her introduction about Hoi An’s local handicrafts (silk making, lantern making, garment making, silk painting making, etc)

Return & Drop off

Walk to the pick up point (outside the Hoi An pedestrian zone) to see our driver & return to Da Nang. In the city, we will drop you off in your hotel. The tour ends.
